My wife and I have both our phones signed up for these alerts and we seldom get an alert. Yesterday, neither of us receive the alert. Sometimes we do, sometimes we don't. I only know we didn't receive the alert, when I see everyone discussing the alerts on TOTV. We've been on the system about 4 years, but I can count on one hand how many times we've been alerted to anything.

A little technical info.... The system is capable of calling 50,000 phone numbers an hour. If there is bad weather approaching [ie Tornado], you might be 35,000 on the list of calls, so the storm is long gone before you get alerted. Or, like in our case, you might get no alert at all.

It's a good system and everyone should sign up for it, but just know it has it's limitations and it's not the only thing you should depend upon.

Just one persons experience....
I agree. We quite often do not get called at all and some times get called after the storm is several counties away. It doesn't hurt to be signed up, however.
