Lots of dancers.
But maybe I could understand 5 or 6 words from all the songs belted out.
Anyone else have that issue??
Another football season comes to a close and as we all get older the same things are said about the halftime show. It must be said again that if you don't like it don't watch and it's as simple as that. This forum has turned into a place where there are nothing but complaints about everything. I get it that all are welcome to express how they fell but all the negativity has become a mass that outweighs any positivity.
Yes its 2023 and the days of seeing performers we are "used to" have come and gone. The younger generation expresses themselves in ways many of us don't understand (or care to) but I remember when I was growing up and my parents would say much of what is said here on this forum. I may not be as old as some out here but it's be time to embrace some change and open ourselves up to new things.

Go Steelers!!!

2. You can't understand her because she's Barbadian and has a very thick accent.
3. The largest generation demographic of NFL fans aren't old enough to have one foot in their grave yet. This is their dance music. Just like I never understood the point of the Watusi, you don't have to understand the point of twerking.
.
What exactly is the point of twerking?

I would disagree with you. Twerking seems more prevalent in certain cultures. Perhaps it is a cultural thing?

We hate it because we are old. Same as our parents hated things we liked as kids. The halftime shows will never appeal to us because we do not represent income to the NFL.
Follow the money.
& being marketed to our kids, the performances encourage normalizing of sexuality among young people, all part of a much greater picture. THIS is what our kids are watching, & have been for some time. it's no wonder kids are they way they are today.

Someone pointed out that twerking comes from an African dance of the 1990's. Why is it racist to propose that it is more prevalent in black culture.?

She sang into a dead microphone. What was heard was her pre recorded version done in a studio. Still qualifies as a faked performance that everyone thought was "live" at the time.

I agree, but it might of been a little better than last yrs. rap show that I didn’t completely didn’t understand. If they do these shows totally for the young people or the people that fork out the big bucks for the tickets($6,000. a ticket) Are they basing the shows for the young people or the ones that have the money, surely it’s not the young people that have the money! I agree with you I only understood about 3 or 4 words.

There are some on here that will call you racist for not liking that. Some on here would propose the choice is either Lawrence Welk or rubbing one's , umm, kitty(?) then sniffing her fingers.

She's an amazing singer with a record of winning Grammy's. The stage was fantastic as was the production.
Sometimes I'm still amazed at the way people can be so mean.
Ain't labels fantastic? The perfect dodge to avoid addressing the issues.

That is certainly your prerogative. In light of some of the comments, I did just research it and it does have origins in African Dance. However....it is not confined to African Americans. Look at any dance show, wedding reception...even at the squares....ALL races are twerking if the music supports it. It's just a current dance phenomenon and most young people will do it. An example...the Mambo and the cha cha originated in Cuba, but I see plenty of non-latinos doing both. It's a DANCE...that's all.

"Sometimes I'm still amazed at the way people can be so mean."

Sadly, I personally am no longer amazed at your dead-on observation.

Nor am I even surprised, at how often my own observations...are so quickly proved correct. Not that it takes any special prescience, to make these kinds of predictions.
