Today, super bowl is THE most American event. Most watched, most money changing hands, most hyped, etc.

It is America condensed into 11 hours (Fox coverage all Sunday), and the half-time show is the pinnacle. Including the twerking.

Yeah...so this made me go back and look. I do hate the whole crotch grabbing thing. Think Michael Jackson started it maybe. I didn't pay much attention to it at the time, but watching the playback just now, I was taken aback. I don't think she was "sniffing", more like zipping her lips or shushing up. STILL....not classy, rather gross and totally unnecessary. Look, I like a lot of the music now, even some rap, and a lot of the singers. Where they mess up is not playing to their audience. I don't care for it, I know it's a "kid" thing, BUT the Superbowl was the time to show up with some class. Even the costumes and most of the dancing could be forgiven but any lewd gestures should have been left out for this venue. Too bad for her, I thought she was better than that. Of course, I remember Madonna on a bed in one of her acts on TV also. Anyway, just to be clear. I don't care for racism but I don't care for this kinda crap either. It is low class, for sure.

How about Beethoven's Fifth with ZERO dirty dancing ?

I thought it was HORRIBLE! Totally disappointed. The half-time show could be so much more to so many more people watching. Seems like year after year they just keep going with the same kind of shows… the ones that only appeal to the younger generation.

My parent's generation hated rock and roll because it was "the devil's work". And the Beetles were blasphemous. And the Rolling Stones were godless socialists. And rap music would weaken the country and cause a civil war. And Elvis Prestley was a good guy who joined the Army and was a true American - he just gyrated his hips too much and maybe drank too much. Joan Bias was a communist. And etc, etc.

Kids are still kids and want THEIR own SPECIAL music. I like that they seem to give a dung pile about the environmental mess that our GENERATION has handed them.
