It's must reading. It talks about allowing little children to drive golf carts and what can happen. Among other things, if they are stopped by the police, they will be given a citation and it stays on their record. It can affect their ability to get a license when they come of age.

That's aside from the issue of the possibility of them causing or being involved in a horrible traffic accident.

Default The Villages Daily Sun online edition may have this up fairly soon.

I hope that this is one of the stories the online edition of The Villages Daily Sun
picks up. http://www.thevillagesdailysun.com/

I have seen golf carts driven by teens here in the Villages and some of these have been going the wrong way on the golf cart section of the roads. Saw this yesterday outside of Pimlico Rec Center but this one had a 75+ year old driver. Watching out for distracting seniors is bad enough but when you add teens, tweens, and even younger golf cart drivers....

Yet another reason why all minors are completely banned from TV property. And it's cheaper too, since Villagers don't have to pay taxes for schools.

The article will be read and, unfortunately, ignored by many. We see the same pattern every year during spring break and then again during summer break. Some people will never learn.

Default Kids & Carts

Would these same grandparents hand over the keys to their 8-year old grandchild for the car. I think not. The guy who used to live next to us (they moved back to their hometown) used the excuse for letting his drive their cart that he "just couldn't tell her no". Who is the adult here? Kids are not supposed to make the decisions...that's why they have parents and grandparents.

Unfortunately, it will take a fatality for them to clamp down. That's the way it always is.

An insert needs to be included with everyone's amenity/water bill explaining that children are NOT allowed to drive golf carts - even in front of gramp's house.

Can a monetary fine be assessed against the golf cart owner when a minor is found operating the vehicle? Make it big enough and gramps will learn how to say no.

That is an excellent idea about the insert in the amenities/water bill.
