Any comments on either Direct TV or Dish TV that would help deciding which one to use, Good or Bad. I have had it with Comcast.
Thanks |

Hi jerry -
You might also try doing a "Search" (see toolbar towards the top) on 'directv dish' (no quotation marks) and browse through the resulting threads. Far too many of them to list here! ![]() ![]() Bill ![]() |

There was an article in the paper today that said Dish had lost more net subscribers last quarter than any time in it's history but revenues were up. Few subscribers paying more? Anecdotally, last week we saw two Dish satellite dishes left out for trash removal in our neighborhood.
We have DirecTV and are very happy with it. Much better than Comcast.

Try Prism with Centurylink. Office is over in the Target shopping center.

Just got back from Century Link with a quote for 4 tvs with dvr and internet at $139 per month with a promise to go up in a year to $164. That is with no movie channels except Encore ($13.00) per month. I was hoping to find something under $100 per month but guess that might not be possible.

Sorry, I didn't ask that but I've heard it advertised.

I don't care a lot about recording but I sure like the pause feature.

We have had DishNetwork for a few years and we're happy with it. We will probably continue with it when when we move to TV. Our package is 4 TV's w/DVR, 250 channels, HD channels, $98.99/month.

I'd like to hear from a Prism customer about picture quality and number of HD channels compared to Comcast or DirecTV. If your home in TV is more than a year old, you won't get fiber optic quality with Prism. DirecTV channels are almost all HD and picture quality is much better than Comcast.

Thanks. Is Prism affiliated with AT&T? We have AT&T (U-VERSE) available where we live but it can only record 2 HD quality stations at one time.
We have been using Directv since 2000 and think it's great. We do have U-Verse internet and much better value than Comcast internet... |

![]() We had Dish up north then used the Dish Mover program to have it down here for the balance of our contract. But sadly, as much as I loved Dish's customer service more than Comcast's or Verizon's (both of which we previously had up north), we ended up going to Comcast because there were just too many storms knocking it out. I put a spreadsheet together that compared what we were paying for Dish + CenturyLink (for interent) to Comcast over a 3 year period (factoring in what it would be going up to after the initial 6 month cheap rate) and it actually worked out about the same dollar-wise for our 3 HD-TV plus internet configuration. Comcast won out because of it not going out during our nasty storms, its faster internet speed compared to Century Link's DSL, and the fact that Comcast now has the AnyRoom DVR which was a nice feature that Verizon FIOS had. Just my 2 cents....it's still early days for this new relationship!! |
