Default AT&T Store

I stopped at the AT&T store at LSL that just opened and boy are they clueless. I asked about the lack of signal and dropped calls in TV and they kept pushing that AT&T is the only service that you can talk, text and surf at the same time. I asked them what good is that if I don't have a signal. Their look was priceless.

Then another guy came over to add his two cents about the tower situation and said they have permits to install 5 towers within TV but it is being held up by developer. I said it is common sense to get the permission of the land owned before you even apply for a permit if not you are wasting your time. He said no that they can put a tower anywhere they want which I know is not the case. This guy was totally clueless.

When I asked why Verizon customers are not having problems in TV and he said that Verizon does not have as many customers as AT&T so they are not using up the bandwidth. He then said wait until more Verizon customers start using more data / bandwidth the dropped calls will begin. My reply was how does know the bandwidth of the Verizon network and their future plans when he can not even tell me anything concrete about the AT&T network.

Then it was back to the phone, Internet and texting at the same time and Verizon does not. When I said we have already been over that and it is not a selling point. I then told him I know what I am getting with a Verizon plan and as far a AT&T goes no one has any idea at to what or when thing will work if ever.

I then ended things with it has been nice but I think I will go with Verizon. Have a great day.

Even spell check wouldn't have saved VG on this one!

as another 34 retired AT&T employee, I concur with G&P above. Most store employees are vendors and not AT&T employees. They are often hired off the street with no telephone background, given minimal training, focusing on sales and activating phones. They are not knowledgeable in the process of how the wireless signal gets from point a to point b. Often many engineering offices (where I worked) were not even aware of new cell sites until just before the install. Just because the store tells you they are forecast, does not mean they are making stuff up or trying to mislead you...sometimes plans change due to economy or budget. Most stores will give you a "trial" phone. you take it home, try it for a few days, doesn't work to your standards, return it. then go to a competitor. As for me, I love my iPhone.

I'm pretty sure the new store is a franchise store not an AT&T company store. Complaining to them will do nothing except convince them they got in with the wrong franchise.

Wink Signal with AT & T

I live in Mallory Square on Bishopville Loop. I have and have had At&t cell service since we moved here and never once had an issue with it. We even kept our out of state phone numbers and all is well... Looks as though some folks are just not happy and like to complain. The way I look at it ... if you don't like one option.... go to the next!!! Or sit back and complain.....!!! Easy way out....!!

We have AT&T cell service and have not had any problems; we live just off of 466. My sister also has AT&T and lives in Winifred and cannot make a cell call from inside her house, she has to go outside.

Service varies, it seems, around The Villages for AT&T cellular. We have Verizon and have had it for years. Switched from Sprint to Verizon while in CA because there were soooo many dead zones for Sprint in our area. Now, all could be different, who knows. When our son and his family would visit us here in TV, they had difficulty, at times, making calls from their AT&T service provider phones. Things are always changing...just wait a bit, they could improve. AT&T is a good service provider...the kids have had it since living in Las Vegas, and have had it in L.A., CT, Chicago, with no problems. If service issues remain a problem, switch.
