Default Tennis instructor

I have a 10-year-old granddaughter who lives close to The Villages. She is interested in taking up tennis. I'm looking for an instructor. I know Glenview has instructors but they are $60/hour. I'd like to find an instructor who charges less than that.

You would probably need to find an instructor who gives lessons outside of The Villages. Any lessons within The Villages must be offered by a Villages program because private instructors are not allowed to use Villages facilities for paid instruction. This applies to almost every sport and game.

Glenview might still be your best bet for info. There are several instructors there: I don't know if any of them moonlight outside TV but it's a good chance that they do, or they may have friends who instruct outside TV. Mark is the manager: he'd be your best bet for information. Greg and Angela are a couple of the instructors who work there.

Another piece of info. Does your granddaughter have friends who are also interested in tennis? If so most instructors charge per hour, not per person. $60 split (say) four ways is pretty doable.

Good luck!

IMO it’s best to learn right way with certified instructors. It’s lot harder to correct bad strokes once they been imprinted in brain.

If John Rohan finds out, they will be getting a visit from him.

Best bang for the buck - if actual learning and improvement is the goal - is a practice wall, trial and error, and lots of reps.

Agree, but you have to get critical initial instruction first on what grip to use, foot work, swing pattern, otherwise lots of bad habit get imprinted in brain, which can haunt someone for life .

Once you understand proper way to develop stroke then wall can vastly improve strokes. Except not wall in villages the back boards are installed wrong and wasted space below net line. installed wrong? the lines where board meet need to be horizontal not vertical causes the ball to fly to left or right depending on where ball his wall line.

I know that he has cracked down on a lot of instructors: golf, billiards, tennis, pickleball, and a guy who was charging to attend a trivia session.
