the child was NOT with them

How did the couples decision to wear a mask hurt ANYONE? The owner (interviewed on the news) said he was tired of mask and the politics. So if it's about politics, it's a free speech issue, like making the remove a t-shirt he dosen't like.

Owner's restaurant, owner's rules. No matter how ridiculous it seems, he can make that rule, and "free speech" does not apply.

So true, sadly so many don't understand that the RIGHT to free speech only applies to government regulations, and not about private companies.

Also according to that report, the discrimination was against disabilities - they have a child who is at high risk if they contract COVID-19 and they were doing their job as parents to protect themselves from the virus while out, so they wouldn't catch the illness and pass it down to their disabled child at home.

I get that people want to have "no masks required" but to say "no masks allowed" is - well not surprising actually. It's Texas, afterall. "My body my choice" only applies if you want to restrict everyone else's rights.

The parents might do a better job if they stay home whenever possible and have food delivered.

Yep and even if the owner wins the court case he loses. Bad publicity and legal cost are not going to be worth letting 2 people wear mask. Saw the interview on tele and all his "hard work and sweat" will be for naught. Less than a smart business decision imo.

So how did these rocket scientists figure that wearing a mask in a restaurant would protect their baby????

Yep, I got it, they THINK a mask will protect them from getting COVID and therefore keep the kid safe.

Well, like I said above---Darwin award winners.

If you think about if we all wear masks , less transmission of Covid means
less cases and a better chance you will not catch
Covid .

Bandb875 09-22-2021 07:24 AM

I think this is BS, or a staged event. Anti maskers don't care if anyone wants to wear a mask. They just don't want to be required.

Lindaws 09-22-2021 07:24 AM

There is your answer. Money!

Yes, but YOUR mask will protect others, not yourself. Therefore, this couple that was wearing masks in a restaurant where no one else was are STILL Darwin award winners

Just think of what is going on in CA and MA........

Texas -- maybe too strong on individualism; CA and MA -- the opposite.
If I had to choose, TX here I come.

It's Texas, what do you expect. Anyone can carry an assault weapon in public and now you don't have to register a gun or have a concealed weapons permit. All you have to do is see/listen to the owner of the restaurant. Talk about selfish, no logic response. He is the same type that would profess personal freedom. The couple had the right to wear a mask. I would sue him!

Just so we all understand this post:

1) You live in Texas
2) You live in or visit the town this restaurant is located in
3) You patronize that restaurant
4) You were there on the day of this incident
5) You were there during the whole time the incident could have gone down
6) You were located at a table in that restaurant where you would have seen the incident
7) And you saw and heard nothing, so concluded the story is a lie
8) And you concluded that despite all the media reports from myriad sources that reported the incident

OK, got it. Hmmmmmmmmm............
