On Sunday while heading out to watch the late football games my car caught fire. Luckily I was able to pull into the old Hacienda Hills County Club and safely park and call for assistance.

The Villages Fire Department was really good. They got there quickly,were extremely efficient and professional and were genuinely concerned for my safety.

As a retired firefighter from Connecticut I know how fire departments are supposed to operate and these guys were very good.

Thank you to the battalion chief on duty that day, the lieutenant and three firefighters who extinguished the fire.

I also want to thank the bystanders who were nice and especially the couple who offered me a ride. It's nice to know we have good neighbors.
