I do not think he was saying the Morse family is the bogeyman but they do have a huge amount of power and they use it in their best interest, sometimes to help us but often to increase profit margins.

Having said this do like it here.

We already pay about $7 million annually for Village Watch patrols (I apologize if the amount is not correct). These patrols have no authority or interest in stopping crime. All they can do is refer to the Sheriff or city police agencies nearby

For the money already being spent, I think we should be able to have real officers on patrol focused on TV needs.

Recently the ambulance services plan was updated, I think the same type arrangement could be arranged for police coverage.

TV is growing up fast. The city crimes will be growing up quickly too.

Lets be proactive
The cancellation of the $100k agreement for coverage in Spanish Springs is a symbolic FU to the Lady Lake officials who didn’t rubber stamp apartments in the buildings around the square. The money is chump change, it’s about the message.

Excellent Idea. Presently The Villages has one police department and 3 sheriff offices covering the respective geographical areas. What about the possibility of 'special police' armed and with the power of arrest to patrol The Villages. Utilizing the police department facility where the crime occurs and be included in the present 911 system?

Actually it's 3 Police Departments and 3 Sheriffs' Offices.

Everything south of 44 and the Brownwood square area is Wildwood so they already have Wildwood Police. Then you have Lady Lake and Fruitland Park. I believe the farthest section will be in Leesburg. I think all the current Police do a fine job at keeping the criminals out.

Chicago PD has approximately 12,000 police officers, maybe you would feel safer living there.

Gee I wonder how Fruitland Park and Wildwood were able to set up police depts before they became flush with TV tax revenue?

100,000 plus people and no dedicated police dept.

Where else but TV would this be considered normal?

But we pay more for community watch than either of these cities pays for their whole police dept

Would suspect that they can care less as there does not appear to be any type of money motivation on this idea.
