Default TOTV on my iPad

Hurrah, I can read TOTV on my iPad and on my Kindle now thanks to a new app called TapATalk.

A techie friend of mine has recoommended using the iPad in lieu of my puter going forward. I would be interested of what people think of the iPad usage versus the puter.

Can you do everything you need to do with TOTV?

I use Safari on my Ipad to connect with TOTV as well as other internet destinations. I don't know why you would need anything else. Lately when I go on vacation I have just taken my ipad instead of either of my 2 notebook computers.

The only problem I have found is when connecting to my email thru comcast. I am unable to type replies which is a comcast problem, not the Ipads. However, if I get an email that I need to reply to I forward it to my yahoo mailbox and reply from there.

I would not want to type the great American novel on the ipad keyboard but for shorter replies it's fine. I would recommend you use a stylus with the keyboard.

Why would you need this app to read TOTV?

The forum is perfectly accessible from a browser on the iPad.

Yes, but every time I wanted TOTV I had to painfully type in talkofthevillages.com. Now I have TOTV right on the iPad desktop, just click on it.

You could do the same with safari. I have a couple of sites which are on my desktop which I access regularly. On my computer I normally use Internet Explorer but cannot on my ipad. However, Safari brought all my bookmarks over from IE.

That's what "favorites/bookmarks" and the "auto fill forms" options in a browser are for.

"Bookmarks" goes to the site and "auto fill forms" fills in your password.

Open the browser, then one click and you are logged in to your account.

Default Bookmark TOTV

The IPAD also saves your password if you wish. Bookmark the page that appears after you login. The Tapatap app has received poor reviews.

Default Ipad and computer

I have no trouble accessing TOTV either on my IPAD and it is always shown when I go to google as one I just visited, plius I save my log in.

The issue of IPAD and computer was addressed recently. Real work requires a computer. Leisure, surfing, emailing, pictures etc are great for the IPAD but if you need to do a lot of work, excel and WoRD, it is way to slow to type fast and do major work.

Not exactly sure how you would go about it either. I think you have to store your photos on a web site like Photobucket or something like that and then up load them to the TOTV site from there. I believe PTurner or Pooh has the instructions on how to post, but I don't know if you can from an iPad.

You don't need Tapatalk.

There is an "add to home screen" option you can use with any website (just tap the box at the top with the arrow). It allows you to put an icon on your desktop complete with password. I hit one icon on my desktop and I'm logged onto TOTV!

You are more than welcome. I'm very challenged by technology, as ME Mason can tell you. So I'm delighted when I figure something out.

I put icons on my desktop for anything I'm currently researching. As well as my banks, weather channel, etc. Right now I'm researching hotels for our trip to Florida. So I've placed icons for five different hotel chains on my desktop.

Then, when I'm done with my "project", it is easy to delete them. Just push on an icon and they'll all start to wiggle. Push on the x and it will ask if you want to delete that particular icon. When you want them to stop wiggling, just push your button and the screen will return to normal.
