Default Villages Passes

Here's a question about passes that I have not seen answered before. I realize a call to TV would probably answer it quickly, but thought I would run it by the experts of TOTV first. My wife and I and another couple are planning on sharing a rental for the month of April. I understand that you can get 2 resident passes for $50 with the rental. I also understand that you can get additional guest passes. Since the resident passes allow you to play the executive courses free, and the country clubs for a discount, and since neither of our wives play golf, I am wondering if my friend and I can get the two resident passes in our names, and the guest passes in our wives' names? Perhaps we could tell them we are two gay couples Whatever, just trying to figure out how to maximize our perks.

Of course you could rent in the name of the two gentleman and the Villages' has a "don't ask, don't tell" policy . . . who the hell cares at our age if you are gay anyway? Then just get guest passes for the wifes . . . now if they want to use the sports pools for water exercise program then you'll be in trouble.

you don't have to tell them you are two gay couples - they don't care what you are - the answer is yes, you can get the pass for you and your guy friend, and then get regular guest passes for the wives. The wives will not be able to use the sports pools (not a big deal in the cold months for most people) but with the new system (residents or resident guests) for popular rec center activities (mostly the excercise stuff like yoga, zumba, total fitness workout, etc) have higher priority now, at least Jan-March.

They (the wives) may or may not get in, depending on popularity (of the activity, not the wives). This is new from last year.

Bogey Shooter, I don't understand. I didn't see that anyone said they were trying to beat the system??

Eweissenbach, sounds like your plan for resident passes for the two golfers is the most sensible. Fortunately, there are still plenty of activities for your wives, so they will not be deprived. Have a wonderful trip!

Default it's not beating the system

It's perfectly legit - as a landlord I am familiar with the rules on the resident guest passes - maximum of 2 per household whether or not 4 or even 6 people are renting it. I think it's well-thought out, stops overuse of exec courses, sports pools, and now popular activities.

Nothing wrong with 2 couples renting a 2 or 3 bedroom house, but limits the free golf to 2 adults, not transferable. If a husband (or wife) is the only one who plays golf, this lets them share a house and have a golf partner. Not everyone is comfortable or has fun playing on their own.

2 couples instead of one sharing a house most likely means 2 couples eating out instead of just one, and although I now see where restaurants and other spots are crowded during the season, that's what keeps them going so they are here for we residents in October, November, December, April and May, and allows them to stay open in the really hot months as well.

Thanks Pturner. I just PMd Eweissenbach with the same message.

2 couples,1 month, you mean to tell me you cannot afford to pay the legitimate fees for your 1 month vacation. Shame on you for trying to beat the system. We as villagers do not appreciate people like you. Please vacation elsewhere.

Maybe I'm missing something somewhere. Renters can get 2 temporary resident IDs for $50 with the rental home. Is there anything anywhere that states exactly who is permitted to have those IDs if there are more than two adults staying in the rental?

Not attempting to be adversarial here. Just trying to understand where you're coming from when you state your feeling that they're 'trying to beat the system'. Again, maybe there's something about it I don't understand.

Thanks -
Bill

I have to ask you "What are you talking about?" because you certainly do not know what you are talking about. The 4 persons renting the home are entitled to 2 Temporary Resident ID's which allows them all the same amenities as people like you (although I hesitate to think they are like you). There is only 2 Temp Resident ID's per home, so the remaining 2 would get the Free Guest Passes. There is nothing illegitimate...they still pay the $50 for The ID's and is does not make no difference what 2 names go on the form. You certainly show your ignorance to the process. Do not speak for "We as Villagers"

autoshow:

A bit harsh, however, I don't appreciate you taking it upon yourself to speak for all villagers, when you write...."We as villagers do not appareciate people like you." and further, to close the door to visitors and tell them to "Please vacation elsewhere."

It's nobody's business whether or not they can afford to pay. Can't hurt to inquire about the visitor passes. And to be insulted by ONE villager (you) who attempts to speak for ALL villagers is unacceptable; speak for yourself, please.

These couples are welcome to visit and enjoy the good life along with the good people here. Welcome eweissenbach et al to "The Villages friendliest hometown" where it's always "a beautiful day in The Villages."

I was so stunned by some of the comments here, I literally had no words (which, as we all know, is very rare for me). ew asked a very reasonable question -- it was not to shortcut or cheat TV; it was to get the most bang out of his bucks. To be subjected to the vitriol that was posted here is, to me, just incredible and absolutely inexcusable. Bogie, thank you for having the class to state you misunderstood. autoshow, I sincerely hope your post was just misguided and ill-worded rather than truly such a piece of unjustified anger and, it seems, hatred.

Thank you, Barb, for finding the words I couldn't. You said it well.
