OK,I admit it. I have driven 21mph.I might have driven my car a couple of miles over the speed limit sometime in my life.Shame,Shame,Shame.... I would never ever consider wearing seatbelts in a golf cart,to dangerous I would take my chance jumping out if that was the case.

Local lore has it that the fine for an unregistered vehicle is ~$750 but the owner can request time to present the court with a mechanic's certification that the vehicle has been modified so that it cannot exceed 20mph, the penalty is reduced to court costs for the first offense. I don't know if this is true but I've heard it often over the past years.

I have a street legal and when I am doing 25mph, I routinely get passed (doors blown off) by non-registered carts that are doing many mph more than me. I would guess they are operating in excess of 30mph. An acquaintance who works at a local cart dealership says most trade in carts have brakes that are completely shot and couldn't stop the cart under any sort of speed/load in an emergency.

If you must drive fast, consider seat belts and disc brakes!

I guess many of you would consider me a "Goodie two shoes". Maybe sometimes I am. Regardless of who you are or where you live there will always be laws and rules. It's your choice whether you obey or not or b**** because the rules are stupid. Have I ever broken a rule...well certainly!! Do I always drive the speed limit...absolutely not (I've had a few tickets in my time). But never once have I complained when I was pulled over for breaking the law. I take responsibility for my actions and don't blame the law or the officer for doing his job. If the speed limit for carts was raised to 25mph, the same people would complain because it's not 30. And then there are those who just like to come on here with remarks to try and stir the pot. So basically the choice is yours, break the law...pay the price! If the law is ever changed I am sure many will just find something else to complain about.

I would guess that it mostly applies to those who vigorously point out others misdeeds and non-adherence to rules so they can feel morally superior....

I need to know what happened when you had to appear in court. How much was the fine and did you have to replace your motor for a slower one? Call me at 352 750-9514 or respond to this thread with advise for me before May 1. That is the date I have to go to court in Bushnell.
Best thing you can do is to get your cart governor altered and take the evidence to the Court to present to the Judge. I'd suggest being somewhat contrite and not arrogant. You will pay a fine plus court costs..which will probably be in the range of $400.00 or so. You may be assessed points on your insurance policy as well.

How do know they were "speeding"?
Maybe they were driving in the left hand lane, not passing anybody, and going UNDER the speed limit.

And what's happened to America's Friendliest Home Town?

Just my two cents worth here. Someone has mentioned in this thread and in various similar threads that the people who get the tickets never post on here. Why should they when it basically turns into a lynch mob. Why would anyone want to subject themselves to all of this holier than thou rhetoric? It isnt informational when everyone says u deserve it. He asked a question, that's all. He know he has to face the judge.

I posted my ticket experience and took my medicine, not from posters, but from the lawful consequences.

Sure hope that the two cars that were stopped were not two "goody two shoes."

I've said it before and I'll say it again - I see way more problems in TV with drivers not going fast enough! I've been on Morse coming home from TVRH with a line of 10-15 cars bumper to bumper behind someone doing 20-22 mph down the 30 MPH road. And you can't pass on that stretch. Now someone tell me how that doesn't cause problems when that many cars are neck to neck.

Not a one-time occurrence. I see it 2 out of 3 days I work per week.

Just because the speed LIMIT is 30MPH doesn't mean you need to go 30MPH. Most of us are retired here and like to take our time and smell the roses. I must disagree with you though. When I'm on a two lane road going exactly the speed limit (I always use cruise control), I get passed on the right by almost everyone. I have to admit, it brings me some joy to see some maniac behind me trying desperately to pass. I used to be one of those maniacs but I finally realized how wrong that was in a retirement community as beautiful as this one. Ever notice the flowers in the round-a-bouts? Slow down you move too fast, got to make the morning last (as the song says). Leave a little early to compensate for slow drivers.

If people are passing you on the right you do not belong in the left lane. The left lane is for passing. Keep right except to pass.

joec1947 - such driving behavior is certain to provoke road rage; and it is a bloody shame that you or anyone would take some joy in provoking same!

am sure you are aware that on a road with more than one lane, the left lane is a passing lane and the right lane is for thru traffic...why then, do you not obey the rule of the road?

what is to be gained from driving like a moving speed bump other than aggrevating other drivers and provoking road rage within them?...unless of course you are a deputized county/state motor vehicle official on duty at the time you behave in such fashion - which i highly doubt.
