Default Tree Trimmer solicitors

Maybe we see more than the average in the woods of "La Zamora" but there is NO END to solicitors coming to our door for work until every tree in our yard is ground level....Yipsters!....Thought there was some rules protecting Villagers from this on-slaught!

NEWS FLASH - It is not against the law to solicit within The Villages. You may think differently because your covenants and deed restrictions may say otherwise. The covenants and restrictions apply to owners/residents of The Villages, not to outsiders - they have no part in covenants or restrictions.

Yes, you can call Community Watch and they may come out, and 'shadow' the solicitors but they can't do anything else. No, law enforcement will not come unless.........

Florida Statutes 501.022 require everyone who solicits door-to-door to have a solicitation permit. Sales personnel are supposed to show you the permit when they come to your door and definitely show it if you ask to see it. If they do not have, or refuse to show you, their solicitation permit, they are breaking the law. You can (and maybe should) call local law enforcement to report them for soliciting without a permit and/or refusing to display/show a solicitation permit.

Read the statute (501.022) first so you know the ins and outs but it is a law.
