I guess as a kid, I attended to many great original concerts from the great ones.

Some are better than others. The Lords of 52nd Street, I thought, was just like being at a Billy Joel concert and the piano guy looked and sounded very close to the man himself. If I remember correctly, three of the guys were actually part of the band recording and touring with Billy Joel at some time. Well worth the $35 for this tribute band.

The Villages own Beatles tribute band, Beatlemaniacs, is great fun.
Can't beat "Rain"... They nail The Beatles...

I also try to catch Beatlmaniacs when possible... The audience is sometimes more fun than the band!

Not "hating". Just stating preference one way or the other. Personally, I often prefer to listen to a variation of a song rather than the original. Example: the Hendrix version of All along the watchtower.

There are so many tribute bands performing it is crazy. Something about it bothers me. My husband and I love live music and have seen a few of these groups. A few is enough for me.

Maybe dislike would be a better word then hating which there's enough of that in the world.

Not sure the purpose of this post, but if you don’t like them, then don’t go to them!

I totally agree with you. I'm not a fan either and will not attend, However, to each his own! Some people brag that they saw this group and that one but in fact they didn't! I know Mike Love was with the original Beach Boys however the group is no longer 'original' and him and Bruce can no longer perform! It was so sad to even see them last year. I will never spend the money to see them again. Mike Love was flirting with some woman, I was beginning to actually feel sorry for him!

Don’t go. Simple as that. Don’t take up a seat that someone else can get.

We really enjoy them, so we do go.

Some of the shows we have seen have been just as good and nice to hear the songs we loved in person

I completely agree with you. The tribute bands around here are extremely poor in quality compared to others, which are very few, that actually replicate the person or band they are giving tribute to. Last I can recall that amounts to about 5 in the world that are worth it.

I've had to sit through a "tribute" here it was so sad. I wanted to leave but didn't want to embarrass anyone (musicians respect). What is worse is when people are charged good money to see the debacle

I enjoy a good tribute band. Expectations are important. I do not expect the tribute band to be as good as the original. Just as I would not expect 2022 Rolling Stones to be as good as 1967 Rolling Stones.

It is good to hear the music played live, with other people, in the style of the original.
