I don’t know of anyone who can do a conversion……but, have you thought of just getting a 2 wheel electric bike?
There’s lots for sale (used) on Craigslist….$600 and up. Might be a better option than adding a motor to a trike. Last edited by Pondboy; 03-27-2025 at 02:23 PM. |

I did an internet search, there appears to be several sources and kits for doing this. Now the concern is liability for the person (or company) doing the conversion. The other concern is inexpensive lithium-ion batteries and potential fire risks. IMHO, I would get one that is electric from a known manufacturer.

I have done it twice and I'll never do it again. The kits are for bicycles. You need longer wires for a trike. The ends of the cables are proprietary. This means you end up searching for extensions on aliexpress. They do have them and they do work but it was a pain.
The exception is catrike which uses a remove and replace kit designed for Catrike. That was a pleasure to install Last edited by Toymeister; 03-29-2025 at 12:37 AM. |

Villages Cycle, in Brownwood, added a "powered front wheel" to my wife's trike. They did an excellent job and my wife can now ride through tunnels and over bridges!
