I can't tell you how happy we are that we are in Michigan.right now. On another note, did you know that The Villages Parrotheads are the largest Parrotheads group in the world? So how come Jimmy Buffett hasn't come here yet?

If there was any possible way to attend I would immediately write a check for $2000. My wife included. I don't understand why they would not sell some seats for donations to campaign.

I'm sure you are correct. I had the misfortune to be in Manhattan when Bill Clinton blew through town for a political event, and the entire midtown section was shut down. No cars, taxis, buses, etc. for about ten square blocks, and cops on every street corner. Simply ridiculous.

The Leader Of The Free World is Coming To Our Community. Act Accordingly!

Can't you just imagine it sometime down the road? Why did the President go to OTOTW instead of The Villages? How do you act when you have company?

It is great that Trump is coming to TV.
As I said before, it is unfortunate the visit will not allow more residents to participate.
The decision was probably driven by opting to avoid the daily downpours and thunderstorms.

And the Sharon is a relatively safe location if they do A LOT of checking around the location before, during and after.

I kind of think they are here already looking around. I mean the Secret Service and other alphabet agencies.

Does any one know what time he will be in the area? I am moving to the villages from Georgia that day.

I doubt if they will give any of that information. Maybe approximate and the like.

I would just avoid Spanish Springs for much of Tuesday until it clears out.

You could use side streets to get to homes in that area. Just make sure you have a map of the Villages. Some of the streets do not really go anywhere just loop around. Easy to get lost in the Villages when new or in unfamiliar territory like a new Village. AAA has maps of the Villages.

It's very concentrated traffic. When the president goes to New York City, the traffic is also a nightmare for hours before and after the visit.

Any time ANY president goes to a traffic-centric place, the risk to the president's life and health is through the roof. So they tend to close stuff off to the public and divert traffic around the venue.

In the case of Spanish Springs, there's not a lot of diverting you can do. The building faces the busiest section of that entire part of the Villages, with regards to traffic. The only way I can think of to minimize security risks would be to close it down completely for the standard 2 hours prior to his expected arrival and until he is well on his way out of the community.

That's why I was asking about it.
I know you haven’t lived in The Villages very long so i’d like to reassure you that this event will be well managed and probably not anymore difficult than closing the Squares down for art shows, barbecues, chili cookoffs, etc.

The Sharon has hosted some very large venues and it’s just not that big of an issue for most people to deal with a temporary inconvenience that may be necessary for the short visit of President Trump. These special events are welcome after the routine sameness day in and day out here, enjoy!

Yep! Just look at the GDP rankings for example. US is number one.

Thankfully, this is a discussion forum, where people are allowed to discuss things. The topic is the location of the event, which will be significant.

One aspect of this event is going to be logistics.

Do you have something to add to the topic?

I believe that the Secret Service will figure out the logistics. That's part of their job.
