Thumbs down Port A John

Has anyone noticed the terrible and dirty Port a John which is the first thing you see when you drive into Tall Trees off of Buena Vist Blvd. As I understand it it has been there since Feb. and can't be missed as you drive into Tall Trees. It has been there approximately 7-8 months and is in the back of the house which it is allegedely supporting. Sometimes the door is left open and the insides appear to be as dirty as the outside and it has blown over a couple of times and was on its side on the lawn. How bad is that?

I believe a more productive call would be to community standards.

Before we bought our house we rented a beautiful home on Abner. The absentee owners directly across the street were having a pool built which meant a big orange port a john was out on the sidewalk the two months of our stay. The workers weren't even there most of the time. I hated, I mean hated looking at that everyday all the time. There was plenty of room to have put it somewhere else. Now I'm angry all over. lol good luck.

Thumbs down Sad

As I understand it this has been there since about February. It is a disgrace to our community and as I understand it all attempts at contacting reponsible Dept's in The Villages have been contacted and it remains the eye sore that it is. It is the first thing visitors or people cutting through Tall Trees from Buena Vista to 466 see or leaving this way is their last impression. How sad. Have seen it for a long time and cut slack so work could be done, etc. but there is limit as to how long anything like this should be allowed?

As long as there is an open building permit on the property, there has to be a porta-john. It's the law as established by the county building department.

Post Law

The answer is yes there is a building premit which has been in existance since at least Feb. NOW: with the regards to the law. Alledegly the law, as I understand it states that a Port A John must be in front of the building site and this is in the back. The neighbor has a Port a John and it is, as stated in the law, in front of their home and NOT on the road leading through Tall Trees. Allegedly it is not as simple as you can put a Port A John where ever you want as long as you have a permit.

Thumbs down Wanted to add

The Port A John is not even presentable but rather quite dirty, a door that blows open a lot of the times with the dirty insides visable and last but not least has blown over and layed on its side for at least over a weekend. That is the view of people cutting through or visiting Tall Trees.

I am sure that the offending jon is labeled by the owner. Try calling and plead for help. You might be surprised at their response. Nothing ventured. Nothing gained.

Thumbs down We Lost

I guess we lost the ability to clean up Tall Trees Lane and entrance to Tall Trees from Buena Vista. It is interesting that Community Standards will not allow some signs on properties and other restrictions but Community Standards allows a filthy port a john to stand at the entrance to Tall Trees and it has been there since about Feb 2014. It has been there for about 8 months and it looks like there is no end. . The side is marked up with something that look dirty, and today the door was open and the inside + toliet tissue was what welcomed visitors to Tall Trees. At one point for the week end it layed on it's side and was the limit to an ugly sight as you drove in !!! I guess this type of dirt is acceptable to Commuity Standards ? But signs are not allowed and the resident will be told to stop. Dirty port a johns are OK. That is the sad part.

Did you call the company that owns the Jon?

Question Will not pursue

I don't think I will write anthing more on this. I believe it is a Village Community Standard issue and it appears they don't care so maybe my standards for cleaness is beyond The Villages and and if they don't care then it will continue to be the "flag" of Tall Trees and The Villages.

Perhaps someone has a spare Pink Flamingo that they could nail on "Johnny". That might help him relocate.

Didn't someone say on your last thread that there had to be a portajohn if there were people working on a home for a certain period of time? That may be a state or county rule rather than something Community Standards can police.

We had one for four months while a project was going on in our neighborhood. Didn't seem to bother anyone. But if we all felt passionate about the same thing they would only sell vanilla ice cream.
