Default Tunnels

I am trying to find out the height of the tunnels within the villages. I am scoping out some golf carts from others outside the bubble and wanted to make sure they would fit.

Measure the one at saddlebrook under BV that’s the lowest ceiling tunnel I’ve been through?

This might help:

You can search for “height” on districtgov.org.

The shorter tunnels are 80” at center. Most south of LSL (or maybe even 466) are 90”+ at the center

But remember, carts are not driving directly down the center. You could loose a few inches where the right side of the cart is passing through them.

If you are looking at others outside the villages, be sure it has golf course approved tires if you plan on using it on the courses here. Raised chassis or not. Many others have done the same and found out they couldn’t use them for golfing at country club courses and most executives without changing tires.

Default Best solution

Best solution to lifted golf cart issues (not only tunnels, but trailering in U-Haul or box trailers:

Every tunnel listed. Put out by the District:

Interesting that the two lowest tunnels at 70" center height are South of 44, or is that a typo ?

That's a good thing to research. I just read where some guy got his cart wedged, front end up, in the tunnel. Haven't figured it out yet. Maybe he's a retired stunt driver.

OP, IMHO, you really do not want a raised golf cart. These have a high center of gravity to start with (they tip over easily), and raising them makes this worse, especially if you increase the speed. If you do not believe me do some additional research. If you are deadset on raising your golfcart, at least get seatbelts and use them, will probably save your life when it tips over.

i would be careful. Don’t think it was worth the savings to this guy.

https://www.**************.com/2022/...-the-villages/

A golf cart driver escaped injury in a mishap Saturday at a tunnel in The Villages.

The Par Car golf cart got wedged in at Tunnel B-17 at about 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Southern Trace and Buena Vista Boulevard, near the Hawkes Bay Golf Course starter shack.

The man driving the golf cart began to enter the tunnel but a high-topper golf cart coming in the opposite direction was “hogging” the tunnel, according to a witness. The driver of the Par Car swerved to avoid the collision, but got wedged in the tunnel.

Community Watch was on the scene directing traffic away from the tunnel.

I've been through those two tunnels and can't believe the 70" is correct. They didn't feel that short and I'm not sure my cart could make it through a tunnel that short. My guess is typo though I don't know how they could have missed that.

Same here. I'm 6"1' and there's no way I'd have to duck to walk thru those tunnels...
