I would think that most people would be totally confused when some one does this

I want to respectfully disagree. I also worked as a PT driving instructor, albeit in another state. We instructed to not use signals in a roundabout, but more importantly if someone is signaling, ignore it. Chances of them doing it wrong is far, far too great. My experience in The Villages confirms this. Trust those signals at your own peril!

My best guess is Tinker was intending to exit at the third exit which is actually a LEFT turn in RAB speak.

Personally, I never ever use a turn signal while entering or exiting a RAB. But......at least I do know which lane to be in at all times in the RAB and I never ever ever ever ever allow another vehicle to drive beside me in a RAB.

Driving next to someone in a roundabout is the best way to have an accident around here

EXACTLY!!!!!! I totally ignore any directional while in a RAB as I do not trust the driver to be using the directional properly.

Agree. This is an example of what can happened to me when in a RAB. (I'm sure most folks have their own near miss stories to tell too).

While driving northbound on Morse Blvd, just about at the Winn Dixie RAB, which is at Caroline, I was in the right lane about to go straight on Morse Blvd. No one was beside me. All of a very quick sudden, a car in the left lane comes speeding up beside me and cuts me off so he could exit the RAB from the left lane. I assume he was on his way to Winn Dixie and had a chocolate chip cookie attack. (they sell delicious HUGE cookies for $1.50. Used to be $1.00). Needless to say, I slammed on my brakes so hard my purse, which was on the passenger seat, fell to the floor. I avoided the near accident and I'm sure the driver had no idea how close he came to me slamming into his car as he so merrily exited the RAB directly in front of my car.

we are confused, lol. it's why we have to be xtra careful, & always assume there is a left hand turn from the right lane. i always slow down & look @ what the car next to me will do before proceeding, & if i personally need to exit a roundabout, i do it from the left lane....if my exit is on the left hand side. right exit from right lane

So, fellows, how do you go about to prevent this?

Slow down? Speed up?

Asking for a friend

I drove medical van for our veterans in my earlier years and did a lot of free-way driving.
I did notice if you use your directional signals, most will notice them and start to use them when
switching lanes at highway speeds.

I have noticed on many occasions that people KNOW about turn signals as they use them to change lanes or at intersections, they do NOT use them on roundabouts.

Yes, I vary my speed to not allow another vehicle to ride next to me. Easy peasy.

I use my directionals everywhere EXCEPT RABs.

Laughing. I always do that, but it’s rare. Constant vigilance is the price of freedom on the round-abouts, but I love them.
