Everybody should have to attend the Sumter County Traffic Lt's presentation on roundabouts.
Coincidently one of the diagrams in the Sumter County brochure has two cars practically side by side.

There is no mystery or complicated plan with roundabouts.
It is a junction.
Use the same lane discipline as if it were a normal cross road.
Right lane turns right or straight on.
Left lane straight on or left turn. (Third exit for the pedantic!)
Give way to all traffic from left before entering.
Before entering roundabout signal your intention to turn right or left (Third exit) no signal for straight on.
Do not change lane in roundabout.
Signal right after you have passed the exit before the one you want.
So simple.

Except in The Villages!

So, do you signal before entering the roundabout or after you pass the exit before you exit?

Maybe not so simple?

I agree with everything with the exception of using turn signals entering RABs, while in the RABs and exiting the RABs. I ignore any turn signal that is used near or in RABs. I do not trust them. Someone mentioned watching a driver's head direction. I look at the front tires to see their direction. That is always a help.

Just stating how most of the world use roundabouts, excluding The Villages of course.

I started signaling at round abouts after I moved full time here & saw what happened when the snowbirds returned. After they left in April I stopped signaling. Then I realized it wasn't just a snowbird problem, so now I try to signal all the time at roundabouts.

But I like to mention in these discussions that if you obey the two most important rules of roundabout driving (imo)…yield to both lanes before entering, and never drive beside another vehicle in the roundabout…turn signals are little more that a courtesy. A good, desirable courtesy.
There was another Thread on this subject. Bottom line, don’t trust a signal in the roundabouts. Follow OP’s above mentioned advice especially the “Yield” - no problems.

One of my pet peeves is people who have no intention of slowing down to go thru the rab and try to straighten out the curve by swinging from outside lane to inside lane then outside again. Trying to get to the 3rd (left) exit is potential mayhem and pretty scary as they appear to be trying to t-bone you, only slamming on the brakes at the last second.

Your efforts are futile with me. I do not trust those turn signals in RABs.

I never signal in a roundabout.

If I am going 3/4 of the way around, I drive slowly in the inside lane and always have my hand on the horn in case anyone tries to cut me off.

If someone does cut me off, I can stop quickly because I am going so slow, but I keep honking until they are out of earshot.
