Default Appliance Choices For Design Meeting This Week

Finally coming this Thursday to get started! I know from reading this forum that you can choose Whirlpool, Whirlpool Gold, or KitchenAid. How many choices in each one are available? For example, I know I want an induction cooktop (not standard electric). I know that Whirlpool (makers of KitchenAid) offers induction...but does The Villages offer it?

Have you considered taking the $1625 in credit and go shopping for exactly what U want at an overall saving to boot.

Also U will not be under pressure and can study the reviews or consumer reports.

Is $1625 all they give you for the stove, refrig, and dishwasher? How is that possible? A good refrigerator costs $2000 alone.

Richard1366: You make me laugh! If I had a dollar for everytime someone told me to get an extra towel rack in the bathroom, I'd be a rich woman! Even my parents (who live in TV) have told me that! It's the little things in life, isn't it?

Then why did everyone say you could do so much better getting appliances after market?

Default Appliances

There might be an opportunity to save some money with appliances.

Find out who TV will use to supply the appliances. Hopefully the designer will know. Then trade up with them.

If you do you can, there can be a savings on tax, delivery and installation charges.

In fact, TV offers Whirlpool Gold SS appliances as an upgrade.

I checked the Whirlpool web page and found Whirlpool Gold dishwasher and Fridge that are a step up on what TV offers. We might go in that direction.
However we have till just before Thanksgiving and anything can happen.

Anyway this is just arithemetic, 2+2....No calculus needed! Which is a relief cause I failed calc 1 as a college freshman...so I became a business major instead of who knows what!

I think you can get a lot better grade for the $1600, I also heard but not for a fact that upgrade they offer is over 3K.

I spoke to someone that went to Best Buy (and they aren't the lowest priced) spent $2100 for much better and in SS. So they got what they want for $500 extra.

Without the exact model #'s its all a guess, but the idea is I want think about options on the build during the design meet not running around shopping.

I'm leaning towards taking the credit, you also can get the microwave in SS if you want for $50.

Standard is black or white for everything.

We are changing out our appliances at closing. They will deliver the new ones that were all picked by us (gave them the model #'s) and they will remove the current applainces. We pay the difference between the credit and actual cost. And they get discounts on there appliances they buy so we think we're doing pretty good.

The same thing I was missing but informed by my wife - they might not match. Of course you could always replace the one that comes as standard at the same time but they might not match the fixtures, hardware, etc. Not much difference to me but I seem to be oblivious to things like that - I'd never notice it in your house, or probably mine either.

Calc: I wanted the built in wall ovens, and asked at my meeting if I could forgo the applicnces other than the micro which I know we have to have for closing. What I learned is that any built-ins need to be installed by TV and there is no other choice there. The ovens were the Whirlpool Gold line. I looked then up in consumer reports and the ratings, while not the highest, vere very good. So that left only the fridge (french door style) and dishwasher. The dishwasher was rated very high, the fridge better than average. So as a means of convenience I took the whole package. I did ascertain that the KitchenAid fridge does not have water and ice in the door.Just an FYI. I believe I would have much preferred Samsung appliances, but these should last a good number of years and then I can replace them. I will purchase the washer/dryer separately and those are NOT included by TV. They offer them to you at a price. Hope that helped! Re: the towel racks. I am having the builder add extras for me in each of the bathrooms:>) Just want to make certain they all match which is why I opted to have them do that!
They are offering a new carpet as well if you are doing any carpeting! If I can help with other questions, send me a PM! I just finished my appt this Saturday!

will they delete the carpet?

Will they delete the shrubs and other things they plant?
