Hi, I have 3 home security cameras monitoring front, back and inside of the house. During 09/03 black out 2 out of 3 cameras went offline and did not come back. The brand is YI home camera from amazon. These are wired and wifi connected cameras. If you have this type of cameras installed please share whether they survived the black out and the brand you are using. BTW, my wifi thermostat is doing ok so I know wifi is back.
Cheers! |

Where is the home located?
There was a recent lightening strike to a local power distribution center that reportedly tripped circuit breakers in homes without surge protection. |

I have had that could not 'survive' a short interruption, but a longer one was fine. I found that simply turning these devices off for 10 to 15 seconds and then back on and they were fine.

Not sure about the OP but if they are monitoring remotely and not at home it’s kind of hard to reboot them manually. I had this happen to my modem one time and was not able to turn off and on to reboot remotely as it was a non cable company brand they could not reboot remotely, etc. The smart plug is one option to be able to reboot them remotely. Smart homes are great until they become dumb, LOL
