Talking I almost died today.....

Not from the storm, but from trying to run home

My wife and I usually take out “exercise walks” at different times. As neither of us had yet done our walk today, we decided to go together. I looked at the radar and there was some menacing stuff to the NE, and a little blip to the S. I proclaimed confidently, “who knows” .

My route is all of the streets around Murphy’s Estates off of Odell. A bit into our walk (as far away as possible) we feel a drop. I was very large and cold drop… We do one more street (cul de sac) and as we are coming back we see a flash of lightening. By the time my brain even thought about counting one thousand … the boom erupted .

We needed no radar to say let’s get home. Our brisk walked turned to a power/race walk and the rain began to fall harder and more thunder crashed around us. My wife said lets jog home. I felt this may be just another ploy of hers to try and get rid of me when more thunder erupted. As a jog turned to a run I was thinking I really wish I worked out harder and had lost that extra 15- 20 pounds… I also pondered is it better to die of heart failure or lightening?

We made it home soaking wet…. I learned that brisk walks do not prepare you to run for any period of time and predicting thunderstorm activity not associated with a cold front is really a crap shoot….

Man it rained and wow we had some amazing lightening/thunder claps that were very close. Made this wimp for my old basement….

Hope everyone made it through with no issues ...

Glad you are both okay! I think that after a few minutes of running, I'd have stopped and waited for the lightning .....

Pooh. I felt that way every step. For full discolsure I only had to run less than half of a mile

My walk is done already today, so maybe a nice glass of wine and wait it out in the basement <doh>
