Default Dish TV in backyard of cyv. What to do?

My preowned villa has a Dish t.v. satellite dish on a metal post in the backyard. I have Comcast and don't want the Dish or the metal post. I saw a
Dish truck driver and stopped her to ask what to do with it and she
said, "We don't pick them up, toss it". O.K., so what do I do now? Cut
the cables at the house and saw through the steel pipe, get my screw driver
and try and detach the Dish and yank the post!!! Can anyone use this
Dish, or want it? Any suggestions on how and what to remove about the
"system" would be appreciated. At installation Comcast told me the Dish
has nothing to do with their system so I am comfortable I wont interfere
with my internet, t.v., phones if I start hacking away. Thanks.

Default Thanks Fumar...people have told me you

have the real skinny on stuff here. Do you think if I got a sink hole it would
be less expensive to put in a swimming pool?

I removed mine with a shovel. Had to dig pretty deep then put it out on trash day and it was taken by trash people. Golf course sand filled the hole.
Dish people told me they did not want it back - probably not worth their cost of removing, as they become obsolete soon, just like computers.

Default Thanks Billy Bye

Will start to dig. Through the shrubbery I see it appears to be on a line with
one yellow, and one green flag. Worried a little about digging it out. Good
to know I truly can get rid of it though. Guess Dish was not required to
have an obsolete plan...filling up landfill's instead.

If you Google "satellite dish bird bath", you'll get numerous hits like this one:
http://www.gardenpunks.com/2007/05/t...dish-into.html

Mine didn't seem deep enough for birds to enjoy though, so I just unbolted the top section and cut the cables to remove it from the pole. Then wiggled the pole back-and-forth about 6 times to break it off at its base.

Trash men took it all....No digging involved!

Wink I found several other suggestions

1. Oversize Discus competition.
2. Giant Frisbee (tm)
3. Put a base on it, have a bunch of people over for the superbowl and serve chips and salsa out of it.
4. Really big bowl of soup.
5. Put a strap on it to turn it into a shield, arm yourself with a light saber, and head out to the nearest Ren Fair armed with futuristic technology. They're bound to make you king.
6. Build a model of the starship Enterprise, using the dish as the main hull.
7. Line it with mylar, mount a lamp at the apex and you have a giant searchlight
8. Sell on Ebay. Somebody will find a use for it.

Turn it verticle and install a pump to make a fountain out of it.

One alternative (a real one) - If you look on line or a specialty catalog, you can buy a fake rock (assuming "rocks" are allowed in TV). All you would need to do is disassemble the dish from the pole and have the pole cut to a comfortable height and cover with the fake rock. I have seen it done and you would never know.
