Default United Health Care Drops Publix Pharmacy

Got a notice from United Health Care that as of 7/1, they will no longer honor prescription coverage at Publix Pharmacies. Only choices in the notice were Walgreens, Medicine Shoppe or Wal- Mart.

You must realize that UHC contolls all medical care in the TV. I use to have UHC but got out two years ago and now that they are the only medical provider we are going to leave TVHC. To bad we had a great Doctot. TV medical plan is not a democracy.

Sounds like they don't like Publix prices.

This will "hurt" Publix. Too bad they couldn't negotiate a deal. I read recently that UHC has lost millions.

Maybe Publix stores in TV will have to close their pharmacies and make other changes to compensate for the lost revenue.

Is this only United Health in the Villages or all United Health Care Drug Plans?

Our corporate health plan with UHC has us doing our prescriptions by mail
(for ongoing meds) and we use Publix for single meds.

Sorry to hear this!

Surely you are aware that United Health Care has hundreds and hundreds of different plans.

Never let the facts get into the way. United did not, and would not "drop" a provider - THEY dropped United.

If the matrix was off (meaning Publix would not see a profit after contractual pricing terms, or reimbursement rates) why would they want to accept the plans? Same exact reason most providers dont take Medicaid...simply not worth it being as there is no return on investment.

At least medicare pays most of the bills (even if the majority of the patients are a pain in the butt)

Never ever let the facts get into the diluted realities that are your lives in the Villages...conjecture and false opines of delusion are far more fun.

Interesting note here. UHC Customer service is unaware of this change.

You realize this decision is not made locally. This is a corporate decision made by someone who, in all probability, has never set foot in TV. This was a decision made by a corporation with profit in mind. Not our convenience.

That is the way business works.
