Default Wooden Decks??

I was playing at golf (yes at golf! I do it for fun as I am not very good)) and noticed a wooden deck being added to a house along a fairway on the Kenya course -
You can add a wooden deck to your Lanai?
give that my Lanai is over 4 feet off the ground this might be an affordable place to put a hot tub - I thought the concrete block, or poured concrete was the only thing allowed,
Just wondering - I do not object to what ever they have done, it is their business,
cheers

Our last house had a wooden deck. It was a death trap!! In summer it would get hot and be slippery like glass, in the winter when it was wet, it was like ice skating. I had a coupke of bad falls and in the end had it taken out. It did looke nice, but the accidents were too much.

I have seen some decks on houses, they are the specialized wood which is usually a wood and plastic mixture. I had one up north and it required almost no maintenance...gn
