Battery and tires are regular maintenance on any vehicle as far as the engine shutting off read your manual there's a switch on the dashboard that turns that feature on and off and you probably activated it and now it's off but still works !

I’ve had the 2019 Ford Edge and 2020 Ford Escape and loved them. No issues. But then I decided I want all the Bells and Whistles and got the 2021 Mercedes GLA 250. Small but loaded with power. Only drawback is if you pull it as a toad on a dolly for a motor home you have to disconnect the battery or else the anti theft locks the emergency brake. Great gas mileage too. Had a 2016 RAV 4 that was great too but didn’t care for the Safety rating.

There is a switch on the dash, but, I needed to press the switch every time I started the car to prevent the engine from shutting off when I stopped. But, after about 18 months, I noticed that the engine never shut off even when I didn't push the switch. So, my problem was magically solved. If possible, I will never buy another vehicle that has the auto-shutoff feature. Very annoying.

We just took delivery on our first Hyundai 2022 Tucson SEL - middle of the road model - from the Central Florida dealer in Clermont. So worth the drive. No ridiculous add-ons to jack up the price. We put a $500 deposit on the one we wanted and "waited" for delivery. I was a little worried that they wouldn't honor the sticker price as the newer orders are higher than a month ago. But, this is the only place I'll buy a car in the future. No rangling with the manager, no sneaky add-ons (like the $95 first aid kit at Jenkins). What you see on the sticker is what you'll pay. We dealt with Michael Norris - a "senior" rep. He even put a red bow on the hood of the car. You'd have thought we bought a $50K car. Out the door for $28K... It has ever possible safety feature we were looking for as a standard. If you want one, you'll have to wait, but it's definitely worth the wait.

Love my Toyota 2018 Rav 4 limited! It is super easy to drive and park, fuel efficient and was priced right. Before that, I had a Toyota Highlander that I just loved!

The 2022 Tucson is amazing....the advanced safety features like blind spot monitor alone is worth it. It is a complete redo from previous models. Since the original poster asked about an SUV, I would consider this or if you want bigger, the Palisade.

Tough time to buy a car now...I am waiting for a year or so. Since cars in Florida here last a long time if well cared for, I'll go for the top of the line bells and whistles.

Why not do a google search and get the real numbers? Just saying.

Honda Clarity - A plug-in Hybrid that seats 5 adults comfortably and has a 40 mi battery range BEFORE the engine kicks in. We've had one for 5 months and have averaged 81 mpg. It's only that low because of 12 trips to Orlando, 3 trips to Tampa, 2 to beaches and three to Disneyworld. Basically, if you are mostly travelling "in the bubble", you won't burn much gas. Oh and gas - it burns Regular...
