Default Vehicle Insurance Premiums

Just got my renewal notice from Travelers. A whopping 33% increase. No change in vehicles or coverage and only claim was a cracked windshield.

We have been with Travelers for six or seven years through AAA. Starting to shop for a new Co.

What did your agent say?

Had an accident, not our fault, that cost our insurance co a lot of money. Premium went up less than $30.00. We used AAA Auto Ins.

Traveler's did that to us a couple of years ago. Sometimes they have company wide increases and agents don't really have any say in it. Right now we are with GEICO and are getting pretty good rates.

We have State Farm and had a 15% increase. My agent said it was state wide.

We had Travelers for about 30 years (employee account for my wife). All we ever got from them was an increase in premiums each and every year. No accidents, no tickets but guaranteed rate increase. Now we shop around every three years and always manage to find a company with lower rates. You have to be willing to switch agents and do some of the legwork but you can usually lower your premiums.

Just did an online quote from Geico. Policy came to $600 per year until I added uninsured motorist protection. It then jumped to $850 ! Welcome to central Florida folks !!!

Be careful when you switch at a certain age. We are grandfathered with State Farm and they can not drop us. Some insurance companies will drop you or raise rates an incredible amount once you reach a "certain age". Something to inquire about if you choose to switch carrierers.

Just watch T. V. each day. Those who advertise like Mary and Mary for y'all. They should add that they are the cause for higher insurance cost. I had to make up a company or they would sue.

We have New Jersey Manufacturers Ins. in NJ. It is considered a jewel as far as insurance companies go. We pay $1300 for insurance on a New Ford with $500 deductibles and the highest limits of coverage. I did a quick quote yesterday from Geico and am surprised that we will be saving money in another category. Only $800 a year with apples to apples coverage. LOVE that little green bugger.

What do you mean "grandfathered and can't be dropped"?

Since I live on the North Eastern tip of Long Island I'm use to low rates. For me it'll be costing us a bit more [emoji33]
BTW, so far we've had 2 showings in one month, looks like we're in this for the long haul. [emoji849]
