Default Veranda Villas at DeSoto

I heard that Veranda Villas are in the process of being built in DeSoto. Anyone have any info on them? We’re still deciding whether we will want to upgrade from our courtyard villa. We had a hold placed on a veranda villa at Fenney but decided we needed to step back a bit and not rush into anything before making a decision on selling our RI property. Thanks in advance.

I don't see any advertised on the Villages website. Call your sales rep and ask him/her.

I remember you considering this maneuver but am thrilled that you are doing it in a way that brings a whole lot less pressure. Stay in the drivers seat and avoid having to accept a price on your home that you may regret. All the best.

Hard to tell for sure, and nobody is saying at this point, but there is an area in Desoto that looks like it’s possibly for Garden Verandas (not same as Villa) and a fair amount of sites may even have golf views which nobody has in Fenney. There is another area under construction that is possibly Verandas but doesn’t appear to have any view sites.

A bunch of golf course lots have already been sold in the village of McClure. We have lived on both water view and golf course lots and much prefer the water, much more private and quiet. You can go to the Fenney sales office where they have a large table layout of all 3 villages showing what type of homes are going in and which are already sold. it's surprising how many have now been sold in DeSoto and McClure.

In the Daily Sun today, it showed four open houses for Verandas in Fenny.

A realtor told us you cannot get a custom Veranda like you can get a customized Designer. Maybe when the Verandas prove to be good sellers, they will start allowing buyers to customize them.

They are already good sellers but you can't custom build one as they are only on streets that are all verandas, they don't mix in with designers.

Many of the Verandas I have seen, including the one I own and live in, have many nice upgrades included. And they do seem to be selling well. I have seen 4 sell in the last 5 days. It may be a little challenging to find one that checks most of your boxes, but don’t get the impression that they are all basic and bare bones - most are not. There are still quite a few left that have water views as well. But, contrary to the title of this thread, they are not Villas, they are designer homes with courtyard style fenced yards.

I guess I had the wrong name for them.

We decided that if we remain part-time Floridians, our courtyard villa is fine. However, in RI we have A Nest thermostat and security cameras that often alert us to motion lights going on, sounds heard, etc. often in the middle of the night while we are in Florida. When we recently got back to RI, I worked a whole week just getting the yard back in shape. Not quite sure we want to continue with this arrangement much longer. And if that’s the case, a garden veranda might be in our future.

For the sake of looking, we went yesterday to an open house. Very nice concept, can see this taking off. We have an end unit, large pool CYV in Tamarind Grove so don't see a move but the "veranda" concept will take off, great idea.

I was looking at the patio villas in desoto and mclure. Make sure you want to hear the prison announcements several times a day. I was shocked to hear it!!! I also was going to buy and happened to be looking on line and noticed there are several or more than that that are up for rentals. If you're looking for a neighborhood with block parties and driveway gatherings, I wasn't sure if this will happen there. I have nothing against renters but it makes it very transient. This was just my personal take on it. Also they have increased in Mclure almost $20,000...too much for prison zen. Just sayin....

Strange, I have lived in Fenney over a year now and have never heard a prison announcement or siren and have no idea what you mean by "prison zen" There are rentals all through TV why would you assume it's different in DeSoto, The patio villas are a bargain down here and investors have purchased many of them, you already noted they went up $20,000 which tells you why they invested in them and still are,. This thread is about Veranda designer homes, not patio villas there are very few if any of them purchases by investors.
