Advice needed from established Villagers. We are newbies, recently arrived from Atlanta, now living the life in the Village of Dunedin. My wife wants a gas fireplace in our family room, not for the heat but for the ambiance in the cool season. Does anyone have experience with this? Advice?

We have one and love it. Ours is ventless so it can go on a wall of your choice. It is the primary heat source for us in the winter.

Just curious. I don't think they have gas in that area. How could you hook up a gas fireplace? I love our gas fireplace in Michigan!

We have a buried propane tank in our yard. It works for a ventless fireplace, a gas grill, a swim spa, and piped into the kitchen, for the future, awaiting a gas stovetop. The swim spa was first, all the others added after.

I would recommend the electric over propane. It creates a nice ambience. A nice one can be purchased for about $2,500 retail and less if you catch a sale.

Check the price of propane as you may be shocked, as I understand it there is basically one supplier for the villages, suburban propane. I do not have or use this product, but see there trucks all the time. NOTE: there was a prior thread on propane suppliers and costs, you might want to search this out.

Thanks so much for all the comments. We do have a 250 gal. propane tank buried in our front yard. Electric fireplace is out since my wife does not think it looks "real". (as if a gas one does?). Any other comments from gas fireplace users will be appreciated.

Before you say there is no natural gas in your area, contact TECO and ask them. You may be surprised
