Default Dead golf cart batteries

I've got a set of golf cart batteries (6x8volts) that I replaced with a lithium battery and need to find a home for the dead batteries. Does anyone know if anyone will either pick up my batteries OR pay me a little for the dead batteries if I bring them to their business? Someone on TOTV had said that one of the discount auto stores would buy the batteries from me at a "core" price. I contacted Autozone and they said they would not even take them for a recycle, and I contacted AdvanceAuto parts and they said they do not buy them but would take them for a recycle IF I transport them to their store. Anyone have experience with disposing of them, other than trading them in when purchasing new batteries? I am not too keen on lugging around six 60lb batteries, just to be told that they are not interested in them. Wouldn't mind getting them out of my garage, though.

I am sure you can call CSU (or your local trash company) for a scrap pickup, I have done this a few times, cost is $10, at least this way they should get recycled. There is a Sumter County waste disposal site (off 470?) that you can take the batteries to at no cost, but i would definitely call first. I believe both Lake and Marion county have similar facilities.
Sorry I do not have any ideas for getting the "core charge" unless someone on here can use the batteries for this purpose.

I doubt anybody going to buy dead batteries, they take on core charge system. No core you pay more usually? Just another way milking money.

I appreciate the responses. Not sure that the special pickup will cart away batteries, but I have yet to ask them. I guess it is worth the ten bucks, not to have to deal with the batteries, IF they will pick them up.
