Or MAYBE the $5 increase helps to offset their customer appreciation reward of every 10th ride 'free'….and providing free rides for active military!

Are there that many people here who have never worked in a business that has to be conscious of overhead costs to keep the place running???

come on......gasoline prices have plummeted and there have been no increases for parking on level 1 at the airport. so it seems the overhead has only changed for the better. however, if their customer base will buy it then more power to them. I frankly think the village scheduled shuttle is far and away the best service to and from the airport.

They have something like 35 vans now.

We're happy with them and at $40 it is still a good deal.
$40?

Ah, that explains it .. I know you are usually meticulous about reading previous posts.
It's not a subject I'm passionate about either, but I do like the door to door service.
When Fireboy was still working in Canada, sometimes he'd arrive at 2 AM after the Shuttle Service was closed.
I was very happy to have The Village Airport Van drop him on my doorstep.

One thing for sure The Villages Transportation will be there, and on time. Quality service. and Not an employee.

That's now the same price as the private car service we have been using. We especially appreciate being the only ones in the car after a long travel day, and always going nonstop from point A to point B. If you feel like getting coffee or having a bathroom break, they'll stop. And when our flights are delayed or canceled, they figure it out and respond accordingly.

Gas and a parking stall are the only expenses an airport shuttle van service would have??
"The company has already hundreds of thousands of passengers in more than 11,000 trips back and forth to the Orlando International Airport each year."
I can't even imagine buying commercial livery insurance for liability with this many vehicles transporting 6-7 passengers, with the number of miles in 11,000 trips per year.

Also, one of the drivers told me once that they have to have a clean driving record with zero violations to be hired. I think it would take higher pay to attract the higher-quality drivers.

Stop complaining everyone.. The airport transportation was originally set up by the developer. When they sold it .. it is now a free enterprise..They can charge what they want.. Think about what your shuttles to the airport cost where you used to live.. for me it was 50 Bucks and it was only 30 miles..I'm not going to gripe about a 5 buck raise .. and now they even pick me up at the house! This is not a big issue!

You're talking about The Villages Transportation shuttles (which go in and out of Lake Sumter) but the o.p. and thread is about Village Airport Van whose website is here: https://www.villageairportvan.com

Both are a bargain with good service. But as cfrance said, if you have 2 passengers you can hire a private driver for about the same price and sit back and relax in quiet (no others riding and complaining) in a luxury or full-size car.

----Our Granddaughter is flying in from California---arriving at 11:30 PM---actual time of last Village Transportation pick up is 11:45 PM. The Village Airport Van is 24/7 --they monitor flights, etc., and will deliver her to our door. Too late for us to be driving to and from Orlando---Am grateful for this service and 40.00 is certainly a fair price.

I don't know why in the blazes they were named so similarly that nobody can keep them straight. As I understand it, The Villages Transportation does not go door to door, their schedule is fixed, and don't run 24 hours per day. Correct me if I'm wrong.

"The other one" runs 24 hours, will meet your flight, and takes you to your door, but you might have to go to others' doors too. Is that right? Even close?

The Villages Transportation connects with a cab service at Lake Sumter Landing that will take you right to your door. it costs an extra $10 each way. Plus tip, of course.
