Can any Recent Newcomers help with what Insurance Companies will Write NEW Policies for homes in The Villages?
We are having trouble finding a Solvent, Reputable, Nationally Known Company that we could trust to honor any claim.
Thanks!!

Pay special attention to the hurricane and sinkhole coverage. We talked with AAA and were told that their deductible for sinkhole was 10%. They recommended that we stay put with our insurer. God, I love honesty! Some companies aren't writing sinkhole at all. We have $500 deductible for everything.

We secured our home insurance from The Villages Insurance. They have offices in both town squares and they were very knowledgable about specific recommendations for insuring a home here in TV. As an example, our agent strongly recommended sink hole coverage and suggested we may not want flood insurance because we are not in a flood zone.

Hi! I am sure obtaining insurance in Florida seems a little stressful. We moved into St. James in November and also used The VIllages Insurance at Colony Plaza. Their # is (352) 751-5720. Shannon was our agent and was quite knowledgable. We ended up with Ark Royal which is a subsidiary of ASI. We also had ASI on our home just north of Tampa and had a small tornado crush our lanai to the ground and tossed our neighbors porch furniture through our dining room window. ASI was great, the adjuster was out in about 45 minutes of my call. I also belive ASI is a top rated company here in Florida and hope they are still writing policies. We also have sinkhole coverage which is about $250.00 a year, which brings our total policy to just over $800.00 a year for a block Iris, 1966 sq. ft. Hope this helped!

I believe a 10% deductible for "gradual sinkhole activity" loss will be the norm come 2-3 years. Catastrophic sinkhole coverage will still remain at whatever your standard deuctible is per individual policy (ie $500- 1000). USAA is also 10%.

We also went with The Villages Ins. on our Pearl in St. James at $538 with sink hole coverage.

Do some nosing around re: homeowners insurance in FL - I doubt you'll find too many companies you'll be familiar with that are writing policies in the state.

We got our H.O. insurance through Brightway Insurance out of Jacksonville - Rita Canty (904)646-1850 - underwritten by Security First Insurance Co. Brightway represents a vast majority of the companies that underwrite H.O. insurance in FL - other agencies only work with a few.

The Villages Insurance works just fine. AAA also has home insurance.
