Default Village Welcome to Explain Water?

As we are moving in, a woman arrived who said she was with the Villages Welcoming Committee. She said she wanted to give a demonstration on the water... I basically begged off since we were dealing with the chaos. Does anyone know what she is going to explain about the water and why does the Villages have a welcoming person talking about the water?

Is this the company that does the ph balance etc act with all the little bottles and then wants to sell a $5500 system? Do they actually say they are with the Village Welcome committee? Is there a Village Welcome Committee? Honestly, if that woman comes back and she is "selling" something, I will boot her so fast.

I think just about everyone has had a "water quality" person come to their door or call them. They will take a test tube of your tap water, add some black dye to it, the water will turn dark and they will tell you it is bad water and you need a whole house water filter costing several thousand dollars.

One of my friends had bought a re-sale home with one of those filters installed by the previous owner. The visitor came with the test kit and the water turned dark. It was one of their own filters. They almost ran out of the house when my friend told them and then showed them it was one of their own filters. YES, IT IS A SCAM.

you may want to install a water softner. Helps a lot. if you do go to Home Depot or Lowes and you can buy one for around 500 dollars. Also go on line and read about water softners , You will be better educated

I already installed what I need. What I am furious about is for this woman to represent herself as a free service that THE Villages Welcoming Committee offers. I was just being nice because she was a TV representative. I can tell you that that woman is going to have about 12 seconds with me when she returns all of which to would be labeled inappropriate on this site.

Thanks for that warning as I will begin my build in a couple of months! What angers me is that she totally misrepresented herself as part of The Villages family... I intend to put a "NO SOLICITORS" sign on my door!

if the lady returns, ask her to show some ID that supports her claim of affiliation with TV. THEN you can lay into her................

Our sales rep told us that before we could get the key in the door there would be a half dozen water treatment people runnung up the driveway. We snuck in at night. The next afternoon there were 3 business cards stuck in the door. The must have an insider at the key office.

When we moved in we had plenty of phone calls about the welcoming committee and wanted to test our water. I told them no way and then the person came to my house and yelled at me for being rude to his sales person. We were inloading our pod and he flew up in his car ran up to us and demanded I let them in to test my water.. What a scam. I called TV and they told me that the water is fine and do not let them in. If they came back to call community watch and they will escort them out. DON't let them in.

We have lived in two new homes in TV over the last three years. To us the water seems fine. We do a lot of laundry and it comes out fine. Shampoo works well, soap is soapy. The water tastes fine and we haven't yet seen stains appear on sinks etc. Also no one has knocked on our door to purchase water conditioners. What have we missed?

We're in the same boat as you except that we purchased a pre-owned home. Not a single doorbell, card left, phone call since we purchased! I have a feeling that this happens mostly to new homes rather than pre-owned.

This was our experience as well - bought a resale......no calls. We did get a few solicitations mailed to us, though - can't remember what they were for.
