Default The Villages Christmas Parade

How about our members get together and have a float in The Villages Christmas parade. Who would like to be the chair...ah person for the event?

We'll take pictures and post them here in all their glory.

I understand applications are available at the recreation centers. If course we'll pay the entry fee for you.

An EXCELLENT suggestion. Yes, Gracie would "grace" any TOTV float as "Reigning Queen".

Places in the Xmas parade are competitive -- you don't just sign up. You have to have something clever/beautiful/unusual/fun or whatever to stand out and get selected to participate. Start coming up with ideas!

We would like to bring some of the unusual Bikes down again for 2010
We are looking for others to be in a unit with us, or to join a unit'

We've toured in over a dozen parades this year and usually bring home top honors because of the unusual nature of some of the entrants.

We have the four seater bike, the colorful trikes, and the penny farthing'

Here's a shot of our old timer in front of a small group of a quarter million in the back yard of 1600 PA Avenue July 4

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...070402461.html

This year, we have an even more unique unit, the only known one on the planet, that awed the crowd in DC as it made its debut at the Bot Scout 100 year parade this summer in DC

If we can get the invite, we'll head down - and will gladly invite any and all people on bicycles to join us

I have a picture of a gentleman on a high wheeler riding the path over the bridge at Lake Sumter at Sunset Point from Dec of 2008. Could that be Larry?

Thanks for the inquiry.
The only times the 'wheel' has been out was for the Christmas Parade '09 and and for an attempt to crash a previous parade .
Linda would make a simpler answer:
"gentleman"'and "Larry" in the same sentence?

Hope to see everyone at the parade

BUMP

Well, it's just a couple weeks away and we have not heard from anyone in response to our posting about the parade We need to make flights or arrangements to bring the van.
We have a new and quite unique entry (the only known example in the world) that while it does not take up huge real estate, will need the van to get it there. The 1880's high wheel bike and some 1950's bicycles are coming too.
We do have a 60 year old restored motorcycle but it gets kinds hot when it has to stop for longer periods of time.

hopefully we can join in the TOTV entry so we will not have to go through the application process like we did in 2009
or we'll have some crunching to get in.
