Its clear posting is one way meaning people post to share their opinion and not to change minds

Some posters take personal any criticism of The Villages

Most posters are generous and fair minded people

Based on this topic I, if needing a jury trial ,would be relieved if the jury pool were all pulled from people living in The Villages:D....except for that 60 something guy that arrested for using crack:D

You are right about me. But everyone already knows that I think this place is well run, but my comments on THIS situation are based on my personal knowledge of living with someone who successfully worked for a large corporation and also watching other people who made a success of their lives.(Which in MY value system has something to do with financial security..) If this happened and it didn't involve the VILLAGES media group, I really feel you would agree on principal because I know from reading this forum for many years you have had a successful career with a large company and understand how that works.

You witnessed my disgrace last week when that Michigan team beat Ohio State. I could be wrong thinking the Morses are doing a great job. Who knows. I hope to be arguing my beliefs thirty years from now with you and others Rubicon. You are a worthy debater, Sir.

Personal Best Regards. ;)

Ask Paige Boone what she thinks, she is young.

I loved the video! It's what we all see everyday! Certainly not offensive! Geez people, stop being so old!

This "kid" squandered a good, free lesson about insubordination on the job, and what happens when you publicly insult your employer's product, customer base and all the people working their butts off to bring in the revenue that pays your wages/salary, while you play.

Some will find it funny Some will find it a bit offensive. From a young persons perspective one would have to say funny. I am guessing he is in training to be a report for a media source such as MSNBC LOL The Village Media source need to take a break. Freedom of Speech should be something that all Media sources should understand.

That certainly meets my feelings on this. Employers should think about how actions are going to be discussed on Facebook and other social media like TOTV. There are other media where no one takes what is written there all that seriously like Topix.com sites and tabloids.

I did not find the video all that funny but people have different tastes in humor.

I find it interesting that at a time when the Sun's credibility as a serious news organization is being questioned in other threads on this site that meanwhile, here, their very management company is being criticized for taking action against one of their own media employees that clearly does not take the community he covers seriously.

So what does everyone here really want them to be, a serious newspaper and media company, or a lighthearted, humorous, lifestyle-focused one?

Because if you read both of the ongoing Villages media threads you will be left quite confused

It isn't confusing to me. Except for Rubicon, most of the responses have been predictable and based on how people look at life and how they vote.

You can be serious and still have a sense of humor. It is a question of having some wisdom in picking your battles. Paige Boone is young as is Megan Boone bit they would probably have different responses to this but I do not know them personally and should not speak for them. I just know that family members with various life experiences will look at situations very differently.

The New Yorker is a serious magazine but has some very funny cartoons.

Carl Hiaasen can be both funny and serious. Carl Hiaasen | MiamiHerald.com & Miami Herald He writes very amusing novels on Florida as well as works for the The Miami Herald. https://www.goodreads.com/author/show/8178.Carl_Hiaasen

I know what my father would have said to me if I got fired for this video.

He wasn't college educated but he certainly believed in the value of holding a job.

He would have said.

"Did you want to fish or cut bait?"

CFrance 11-25-2015 12:10 PM

There is no confusion, in my opinion. Despite what anyone thinks about the DS or Villages Media, I believe there is one truth in here: don't bite the hand that feeds you.

I wasn't offended by the video, but to me that's not the point.

There are lots of situations where you should bite the hand that feeds you, but given the information we have, this is not one of them. The Villages Media Group got a very pyrrhic victory here though.

Wow light bulb just went off. In the real world:
1. There is no "///" button
2. You can't take a one week sabbatical
3. There is no apologizing to those you only care about

PJackpot 12-26-2015 09:05 AM

Neither funny nor offensive. It's the perspective of a typical 24 year old living in a community he cannot relate to. It would be the same if any one of us were living in a community consisting of over 100,000 twenty-four year olds. Now, there's a scary thought.
