I abstracted for Information Access Company and I can use some of these individual abstracts to show my work, but I could not use whole sections of the Area Business Databank as Ziff Davis owned the copyright. And several other abstractors' work was on those pages.

I was doing that when I was 24-27 or so in Belmont, CA. Ziff Davis Media Inc. Company Profile, Information, Business Description, History, Background Information on Ziff Davis Media Inc.

I am wondering if that is the whole story with why the Villages Media Group fired this kid?

He looks very extroverted which I would think would be a strange fit for the Villages' life style unless he really likes the company of seniors.

I loved the video! Very creative. I have also
Enjoyed his dancing to Scooter many times.
With his talents I am sure he will be successful.
Good luck, young man. My only advice is to
Make good choices!

Not entertaining

Let's see ---- self absorbed 24 year old seeks attention by satirizing the activities of older people using snippy dialogue with a snarky attitude and tone. What's not to like?

Should he be fired? That's up to his employer.

I would say the Villages Media Group should be thankful to have such a talented individual working for them.

Talk about thin skinned! I found it amusing and entertaining and the kid shows tremendous potential. Hopefully he will find someone who appreciates this potential.

Our loss.

I actually got a kick out of it. No offense taken here.

But I do understand the employer reaction.

Ecuadog 11-19-2015 06:23 PM

I take no offense. His employer over reacted, IMHO.

Amen! I loved it. :clap2:

1. The title of his video is what it is like to live in The Villages as a young person
2. Which part of the video was not true
3. I was riding the cart path today and somewhere between 466A and 44 I seen a dark grey house. My spouse commented on how it was so noticeable. I responded have you noticed the farther south we travel the more the houses look alike. The distinguishing feature is the size and configuration of the bird cage.

Shame on anyone that fired him for his artistic ability (which I highly doubt happened). Plus whatever happened to freedom of speech. His interpretation of what life here as a young person is just that. How about 24 hour news media giving me their interpretation of the news - when do they get fired.

No offense taken here...but then again no giggles either. Thought it was kind of a lame effort particularly if his expertise was in "media". Overall, I would have given it a B- if it was submitted as a high school project. Definitely should have gotten someone else to do the voice over -- that bit was really annoying and took away from some of the content.

If I understand correctly, Florida is an "at will" state, and considering the amount of $$$, time, effort etc put into the whole Villages image, can't say I am surprised he was fired, nor can I blame them. He should have exercised better judgement.

That being said, it is a light hearted look at a unique phenomenon/business model.i thought it was cute, and have sent the link to family and friends.

I like the video.

I have no FACTS about the termination.

Me too. BUT....I don't think he will be up there with Cecil B Demille unless something changes. No offense meant if the kid is someone's relative.

Video was fun! Good to see another perspective!

Let’s say for arguments sake he was fired. We don’t know if this video was the sole reason or it was the last straw. If I were in charge of TVMG I can assure you I would have a policy that all employees must clear with corporate any posted videos involving TV. Any employees posting without permission are subject to dismissal. I would be shocked if that wasn’t his employer’s policy. If I did something similar about my employer, I would be gone. My policy manual is very clear in this area.

Personally, I thought the video helped TV sales. I’m not one for the group dancing, but I do like to see how lively the place is. I visited a 55+ comm. recently (in another State) and it truly had the feel of a retirement home, not good. At 54 this video made TV more appealing to me. However, if I was a current resident of TV, I might not be happy with the statement:

“Also if you’re living in what appears to be a cult, sometimes you have to drink the Kool-Aid.”

Before all the comments start. Yes, I know, all in fun, I get it. And yes he has the constitutional right to say whatever he wants. But no one has a constitutional right to a job with The Villages Media Group. If he was fired, I’m sure he’ll get back on his feet soon and find new employment.

To the Developers rep that monitors TOTV: The guy didn’t hurt sales, he may have actually helped. I will still be flying in this weekend and talking with TV Sales, see - the video didn’t scare me away :)
