Summertime seems so much more relaxed and laid back in TV, because there are fewer people here, that it is a closely guarded secret among some Villagers. Some full-timers, when snowbirds ask "... but doesn't it get too hot in The Villages in the summer?" say things like "Oh, my, yes, it's just unbearable; you are soooo wise to only come for the winter and then go back up north. Why, we can hardly stand being here during the summer".

But, luckily, here on TOTV we speak only the truth!!

Does anyone really know the percentage of seasonal residents VS full timers? I've heard estimates between 20% and all the way to 80% seasonal. We have only been here since November so haven't experienced the off-season yet.

Anyone have an accurate number?

Watching out for the other "guy" in the roundabouts is the absolute key ingredient any time of the year, IMHO.

Cool

I believe if they would eliminate all the lane markings, in the roundabouts, it would be a lot more fun .....

Temporary hijack...........

Here's something Sandy and I haven't been able to figure out re: the roundabouts - - - Many of them have two marked lanes for the entirety of the roundabout yet others have two lanes narrowed down to one at certain point(s), even though the blacktop exists for two lanes to continue. Anybody know why?

Thanks -
Bill

I don't believe you will find an accurate number on this forum... only observations.

Most restaurants lower their prices and there are no lines - at Palmer last year you could get a three course dinner for two with a bottle of wine for $50!!!
Don't forget to sign up for the Izod Rewards card. They send emails with discount coupons which can be used ON TOP OF their off the wall sales, and the cards are good at Izod, Van Heusen and Bass (shoes and socks, also owned by the same company).

Where I live in Texas there is an outlet mall with an Izod, Van Heusen, and Bass. My clothes are nearly all Izod due to the unreal sales prices.

The info they give in the sales center to use on the trolley is that 80% of residents are full time

See what I mean ???? Lane marking just confuse people...

Can you imagine if they were all converted to 4-way stops overnight! YIKES!

The roundabouts narrow to one lane where the exit road being approached is one lane and not two like the areas where it does not narrow.

I was told by a Village Sales Rep that approximately 60% of residents are full time. This number was confirmed by Lyle Gant in a previous post (he is a respected realtor in the area), when he said that Snowbirds are about 40% of the homes. Lots of full-time residents have RVs and/or travel all summer. Sometimes when I look at the Town Square Web Cams in the summer, the Squares look empty!

It's a blessing to have such a wonderful place to enjoy, whether full time or seasonal!
