Here is my guess why "The Family" hasn't done this. It is very inexpensive to have your lawn mown here, most people I know pay around $40 a month..for a yearly contract. So that means that the kids who do it don't make a LOT of money. However the residents, SOME of the residents are picky...so that if they missed a blade of grass, blew grass clippings into the street or on the drive, came too early or too late or did the slightest thing wrong you would have to pay a plethora of customer service people to answer calls and try to fix real and imagined problems. This way the multiple trucks clogging the streets can have their wives (or husbands) answer the phone before they decide to quit doing this and do something else for a living.

I bet you'd take that wish back if TV hired Stellar/Servicesmart to do your lawn!

Or maybe "the family" would just ignore the peons and their complaints like they do with everything else.

Default Recycle

I would like to see each Rec center recycle glass, plastic and cans. The waste after every party and event is very sad and wasteful.

I would like to see recycling bins st the mail boxes.
Why does the Developer resist these practices that we took for granted from where we came?

The Rec centers are run by the Rec Dept which is part of the CDDs.

Tell ya what, boo boo, next time you are in a rec center, check out the chairs for the card tables or any table and compare them to your card table chairs or to your Aunt Bessie's or your rich son in law's card table chairs.

This peon doesn't feel ignored. She can go to any pristine pool and bathe, she can drive down limitless cart paths and roads and see beautifully kept vegetation on all sides and go into magnificent rec centers to paint or hang out with friends. She can go to three town centers where the buildings are like out of a painting or a book or a fairy tale. The "family" are not show offs. They don't come and stand on stage at every opportunity and toot their horn. That brings them huge atta boys from the folks from Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky. Throw in Illinois and West Virginia and Tennesee and of course Texas.

It appears , and I may be wrong, but some residents never consider the consequences of the suggestions they put forth, nor the cost. Maybe just maybe those who desire the Developer (VLSI) continue to rule are correct given some of the scary ideas some residents advance this time of year.

Personally I stopped filling the survey out after my second year here

And the beat goes on
We did, too. One year's survey was exactly like the one before and the one after. It would be nice if the paper could post the most requested activities/stores/restaurants, etc. that Villagers use as answers. Personally, I think they just want us to feel that our opinions count. We've been here for four years, and I don't really think the powers that be care one iota what any of us think.

You're ignored. You just don't realize it. When's the last time you were invited to their house for dinner?

Our home is in the Village of Fernandina. We'd like to swim at night, too. If they have four pools in the Historic District that are available in the evenings, why would they've stopped installing lights? Maybe for the same reason the Northern Section has Resort like pools and far nicer Country Clubs, too. I'm 53 & concerned about resale if we don't keep up with our up and coming competition over the next 5 years.

Something does need to be done about the cart path/tunnel at Morse Blvd and 466. The way Morse Blvd was redone, with a cart left turn lane to the path so near the gate, it is an accident waiting to happen. Also the way the right turn lane for vehicles crosses over the cart path at Morse and Rio Grande is another accident waiting to happen.

We would also like to see more variety in shopping and dining. For the most part, when they build a new shopping area, the stores are the same as every other shopping area. We need more variety of better quality department stores. Bealls is a Florida store, not every one wants to dress in the colors and styles which are mainly intended for the elderly. I may be old, but I would rather dress with more classic style in better quality clothes. We have lived here for almost 21 years, while we have seen alot of change and growth, we still have to drive and hour or more to find a decent department store and mall.

We would also like to see some different restaurant chains. A high quality fresh Chinese restaurant that is not a soggy greasy buffet would be a plus. We are tired of the long drive to find something new. Cheesecake Factory would be nice as well. Pei Wei is a chain which cooks fresh Asian food while you wait. It is very casual, and the food is above and beyond any Asian food in our area.

The pool cleaning crews start cleaning pools at dusk and usually finish up around 3 or 4 in the morning, sometimes later. If they stay open later because you want to swim at night, when do you expect to have the pool cleaned?? BTW I've never heard of anyone having a problem with resale, can't see that being a problem even though your only 53.

Great reply, Gracie!
