Plumbing problems
Changed out my kitchen sink from a double to a single and removed the garbage disposal. Now my sink doesn't drain good. Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions?

did you use a real plumber or a handyman--might be a sink depth problem

Possible debris in the drain line, remove trap and clean if necessary. If this was a DIY, is the drain line installed properly, an air pocket will slow down draining action. If the new sink is deeper then the original sink the drain maybe going 'uphill' for part of the run, and this will interfere with draining action.
Hope this helps.

Could the second sink have been used as a wet vent?

Since you paid someone to do the work that should be where your questions are going. Just saying

Call Doc's and have them check the AAV. Sounds like a venting issue.

if he got a basket from Loews or home-depot they are improperly made and the gasket and tail piece blocks off half of the flow.
look down the basket drain with a flash light take a pic and post it and i will tell you if its one of the bad baskets or pm me. Brought it up to the store manager and corporate won't recall 10,000 piece across Loews. Welcome getting scr*wed by the big box stores. 3 years and 5 hours later i caught the manufacture error the manager was a good guy and said even after 3 year he would refund my money. P.S. if it is a wet vent or airlock problem you can use a mechanical vent under the sink. |

My guess goes with something in the drain line. Can you run a hose to the sink, stuff a washcloth around the drain with the hose in the drain and then run the water for a few minutes. Trying to build up some pressure to clean out the line.

OP, get a good flashlight, look down the drain, you should not see any gasket material. Also, as mentioned before, if your sink is located at a knee wall (not a wall that goes to the ceiling) you may be having a problem with venting of the drain. I am NOT a plumbing expert, but I believe I have seen vents that can be installed next to the sink, but this requires another hole in your counter top.
As mentioned previously, go back to your vendor and demand that this be fixed. If they refuse, stop payment on your credit card (if possible), contact Seniors against crime, and if necessary, the BBB, etc. Hope this helps.

My only plumbing problem is not related to the sink, but thanks for the explanations!
