If the washer springs a leak, you will wish it was in the garage. Also, dryers put out a lot of heat, dust and noise. Keep it in the garage. The heat will not harm the washer or dryer.

I'm glad to hear all the positive remarks about the w/d in the garage - my new villa has it there and I was a bit concerned by now content with the idea after reading your posts. Thanks!

Oh,I agree with the other posters.....it's WAAAAY too hot to do laundry in the garage in the summer.....and yes, if any water is left in the pipes or around the gasket on the washer, you will get mold. But if you only stay at TV in the winter, having it in the garage wouldn't be a problem at all!

That is true but you can minimize the chance of that happening by replacing the rubber hoses with steel braided hoses, it's a smart thing to do no matter where the washer is. I wonder if the heat in the garage will shorten the life of regular rubber hoses?

GeorgeT,
Do not believe garage heat will affect the washer hoses. The hot water hose is exposed to much higher temperatures just from the hot water. I believe the age of the hoses, in most environments, is the most significant factor in hose failures. |
