Default Water Bill

Just received VCDD utility bill and was wondering why the rate for reclaimed, non-potable water used only for irrigation is more costly than potable water. Any answers out there?

Do you recall that skit by Abbott and Costello when they were in jail with a very large and strong guy who apparently had a bad experience in Niagara Falls with his wife. and so everytime Costello said "Niagara Falls the large guy would say " slowly I turned and step by step" and beat costello.

Well since moving to The Villages when I hear two words "water" and "insurance" it mkes me say "and slowly I turned....."

North of 466, there is only one water bill rate. We do not use reclaimed water for our yards. Oh, it is cheaper than south of 466. Just one more reason to consider a preowned home in an established section.

Ah. So, technically, irrigation water isn't more costly.

From our water bill (in Duval):

Water base 0-4,000 gallons @ $1.72/thousand

Irrigation Base 0-7,000 gallons @ $1.87/thousand

Utility tax - potable water 5%

Sewer base 0-10,000 gals @ $4.12/thousand

Not even close.

4000 gals of potable - 24.53 (6.88 + 16.48 sewer + 1.17 tax).
vs 4000 irrigation - 7.48

Now a question could be why the sewer is so expensive. Seems somewhat unfair using water consumption to determine sewer charges.

Every where I have lived in the past and on municiple water the sewer was based on water consumption. What would you base it on??

Nothing like having Easter Dinner at the Sherwood Inn Skaneateles. Looking out over a 16 mile 300 ft deep fresh water lake. And our friends AGAIN say " You'll be back soon" We have high taxes but we also have cheap unlimited fresh water!

Car insurance- Home insurance- MC insurance- WATER Bills!
