There seems to be a lot of Nova support on this site.
I researched and ended up with Pelican. Water Softener & Water Filter Systems | Pelican Water Not the cheapest, but I love it. Good Luck. |

Nova Water Filtration system is $495.
It's a lot better than people who try to sell you one for thousands of dollars. Many people are satisfied with this system and it's $100 per year to replace the three filters, unless one wants to do it themselves. They are heavy when removed and it's always a possibility, one might hurt themselves. It's a lot easier for someone else to do it and write the check. ![]()

For less than $200 you can get a dual Big Blue 20"x4.5" filter enclosure for a pleated sediment filter and carbon block filter. The sediment filter can be hosed off and the carbon block filter (about $50) can be replaced every other year. Lots of my neighbors have gone this route. No need to spend more than that. The carbon block will remove chlorine (which gives the water a bad taste) and the sediment filter extends the life of the carbon block filter. You, of course, don't need to do anything as the water is safe as is.

2. If, you leave the filter too long without changing it you will have bacteria growing in your filter. |

Here's something interesting. We had a local company come out this past week because we wanted a new water softener installed as the one we currently had was a rental. The salesman was told not to go through his pitch about the whole house filter because I knew what I wanted, just a water softener. He started in about it anyway and said it was $4600. I was so mad I almost threw him out. I guess he had been doing it so long he didn't know how to get to what I wanted without his pitch. Then he says well at the very least you would want the chlorine remover filter because the Villages dump all kinds of chlorine in your water and people complain about how it makes them itchy and red and allergies too. Do you get red and itchy? I said that's interesting. Let's test the water for the chlorine. He said oh, well just believe me there is a ton of it. You can buy this chlorine filter added to your water softener for $995 but just today if you buy it, it will be $795. I said oh, well hang on a second and I went out to my spa and got my water testing kit and tested our sink water for chlorine. Guess what. NONE. No chlorine in our water. He said I have never ran across anyone in 30 years who had their own chlorine tester.

We moved into new home in Fernandina about 3 years ago while new construction was still going on in our area.
Had Nova filters installed two years ago. I just changed filters 3 weeks ago. Here are pictures of the old ones (L-R) 20 micron, 10 micron & carbon. New ones are pure white. I will change again in about 18 months now that new construction has moved a few more miles south of us. I know usage is based on gallons (approx 25,000) not time. We think it was well worth the $450. ![]() Don

I test my water for chlorine because that is how I know when the carbon block filter is no longer adsorbing the chlorine. The chlorine level is about 1.5 ppm in The Villages.

I would like to add the Nova system, but my husband has turned the golf cart garage into a workshop, and I don't see that we have the wall space. Our Michigan & PA water tasted much better out of the tap than the water does here.
