As my husband approaches age 65, and our health insurance through his retirement will cease, I will find myself without health insurance.
Naturally I will find a provider. However, it crossed my mind, that given the large population of our "city", with a good portion of that age group under the age of 65, there is a ready made market for The Villages to offer health insurance. The providers and facilities are all in place, we only lack the coverage. Perhaps I am being simplistic? |

I can certainly understand your situation as I found myself in the same predicament a couple of years ago and was facing 6 mos with no health insurance. I found that quite scary but I was a self employed AFLAC agent and, luckily, was able to get a 1 person group policy through BCBS for 6 months at $835 per month in NC.
I doubt you'd find much help through The Villages. Seems it would only be feasible to offer coverage to older folks IF you had a substantial pool of insureds that were younger (paying premiums and not using it) to compensate for those who might use it more frequently. That's just my opinion and I'm hoping you'll find something that will fit your situation. |
