I opted for all white, bright furniture in my TV home. Up north, I have dark woods and warm colors.

I wanted a "lighter" look for my Florida home. I'm not sorry. When I come down here and open the door I feel refreshed and my home is so bright. I feel refreshed.

I don't find white furniture hard to keep clean. I take a damp sponge and wipe it down when it gets dusty...looks good as new as the day I bought it.

Bright, you went white because you are the "bright" spot. I went with chocolates and clay on the walls, and dark furniture.
Folks, you can paint it purple and pink. It's yours and you can have fun making it any way you want it. Just make it comfy and you have it decorated right.

Even though I like the white I will be honest and say I'll probably not do that again once we buy a larger home to live in permanently. Darker woods and warmer colors are more my style.

We're going the Sadie Mae and Patience look with tones of Irish Setter red hair & black to be followed with Eureka canister yellow & gray. For those that don't know these are our dogs and will be chasing after them with a sweeper just like our northern home. Some things never change.

Bright, I really appreciate your comments. I think I agree that this will be great for a second home but if we ever decide to live there permanently then I would want to change it to be more like my northern home. But for now I want something that really tells me that I am in Florida when I walk in the door. What colors have you used for upholstery, window treatments, bedding, accessories, etc.?

I agree Bright. I just want a "beach cottage" for now. My husband sweetie lets me take the lead on this. He is a saint. I have no idea why he has hung around so long. :dontknow:

Something tells me that we will follow many other villagers in someday getting a larger house and only living here year round. Then I will change to the deeper woods and warmer colors.

Ahhhh but Tal, they aren't just for us Villagers. We now have smaller houses, a new climate for most, not nearly as much storage, a new life style completely, new expectations and experiences, (watching our husbands epoxy, screen, cabinet and fix up the GARAGE??) a new vehicle for many, the golf cart, new ways to entertain, to cook, to live. AND on top of all this, we are basically having identical homes. It is a kind of challenge for some of us decorating buffs to make them individual and our own.

It is a game, kind of, a fun game for me anyway.

I did and do still get lost sometimes out walking the dog or biking because so many of the houses south of CR466 do look so much a like because of the deed restriction on exteriors in the front of homes.

That is something us TOTVers can do then fill in this niche of information on decorating here in TV.
