Default Gates at each Village Entrance

Just wondering about why all of a sudden, I am seeing all these gates either on the side of the road or in a stuck upright position. Is it because there are so many people here now at Peak season and the system can't handle the overload?

I saw a Mercedes this morning coming up to the gate to let him out and never even stopped and just missed the gate hitting the top of his car as he went through.

Vision gets bad as we get older maybe flashing red lights on the gate would help

Impatience is a contributing factor, along with piggybacking.

FYI---My husband told me yesterday that he read in the Daily Sun--(not sure what day) that you can be ticketed for failure to stop at those temporary stop signs on barrels that they put at entrances and exits when the gates are down.

I wonder, has anyone ever been ticketed for that? Just asking...

Some say that it is directly related to the alcohol consumed at happy hour.

Those gate fixers have job insurance for sure.

Here are a few of your neighbors breaking our gates. They do look stupid, don't they?

I was surprised at how many of these gates are taken out by golf carts, not cars. I thought the idea of retirement down here was so we can slow down and take it easy. Every one of those gates could have been saved if only the driver approached the gate with caution. I don't know what's in people's minds sometime. I just hope they are catching these people and making them pay for the gate and perhaps a stiff fine as well. Maybe that way they will move a bit more cautiously through our gates. I would hate to see our annual maintenance fees go up because of a few people that don't care enough about their community to slow down and drive a bit more cautiously.

agreed. it can't be cheap to replace these gates and I've been here only a few months and they've been broken at my entrance twice. If you break it, you should have to pay for the repair.
