I can't even get any roofing companies to return my calls. Also, I understand their need for a check, but I would prefer the protection I get with a credit card, especially if not a well known vendor and because I can't go on the roof to confirm work is done and/or done well.

I agree w all you said
But beggars can not be chosers....I called 5 companies, FIVE, none even answered the call, all went to voice mail.
I could not go up to my roof to verify work either.
So....the choice was
Trust them or risk getting a leaky roof and get mold....
