My two grandchildren (ages 11 & 14) will be visiting for a week and I wonder if anyone can tell me where I can access the info that lists activities for kids. I would love to let them play some of the games like bocci and golf and pickleball---but I don't know if it's allowed--or if the adults here would get annoyed. I do know about the family pool which will be great, but I think they would love to play games and maybe even do arts and crafts. Thank you anyone who can steer me in the right direction.

Go to a regional rec center and get them passes. Of course they can play games. Check out the schedule for craft gatherings. Remember that just being with you is pretty great. Stock up on all the candy and cookies their parents may not like. Get out the photo albums of their folks and share a few things with them about their perfect parents......I think people love to see grandchildren visit. I know we do.

Our grandson is coming too next month and he asked for Bingo and to sit in with the Beatlemaniacs. He is 24 and loves to come visit us here. He will want to go to Wildwood and look for old vinyl records. And swim in our pool and I will bake and he will play golf....oh such fun. He likes to hang out at Barnes and Noble and to play Bocce and to go to the squares with us.

I realize your question was what you can do here in The Villages.

If you don't mind the hour drive to Orlando Wonder Works is an hour away and we have taken all of our grand-kids there and all enjoyed it very much. Price is less than 1/3 what the big parks are. Especially if it is a rainy day. Wonder Works takes several hours to do properly.

Camp Villages runs through August, 11th. This is the 5th year our grandchildren have participated. They love it!!

If they might enjoy fishing, you could consider buying some inexpensive fishing tackle at Walmart and letting them fish in some of the ponds in The Villages.

The general practice is Catch and Release.

You can check on Florida's fishing laws on the Internet. They may be so young that they don't need licenses. You may be so old that you don't need a license. Look it up.

I have seen a lot of fishing action at the pond at the roundabout at the Savannah Center. It is actually two connected ponds. Kids fish in the small pond with bread on a hook and catch a small fish. They then move to the big pond using the small fish for bait, and sometimes get a good sized bass.

You will, of course, get them Villages visitor's ID cards so they can play games at the recreation centers.

My 21 year old granddaughter will be visiting us in a few days for two weeks. My husband and I wanted to do something really special with her so we decided to book a three day cruise out of Port Canaveral. She was over the moon excited that she was about to go on her first cruise. Because it was very short notice and she didn't have a passport I spoke to the travel agent and was told that she would be unable to get off the ship but as long as she had a certified copy of her birth certificate she would be able to cruise. You would be surprised how relatively inexpensive a short cruise is and in the whole scheme of things with food and entertainment included it truly is affordable.

Our 14, 17, and 20 year old came for 3 weeks and played pickle ball bocce ball, shuffleboard, and golf. Within 4 hours we're able to take out a golf cart and travel The Villages wherever they needed.too old for camp, went to lunch on their own and enjoyed priority pools.

I've been on the three day trips out of Port Canaveral. Even if she can't go ashore, she will have some great experiences on board. And while in port she can go on deck and observe the passing scene in the Harbor.

I would be very sure it is a CERTIFIED COPY of her birth certificate. Wouldn't want her to have issues coming back in.

You are correct about the moderate cost of many cruises, when you realize that you are getting your lodging, transportation, all you can possibly eat, and entertainment for one price. Back when I was cruising, we considered it a good deal if we could find a cruise that cost $100 a day per person. It may be higher by now.
