Default What do do when Golf Cart Breaks Down?

Hey all: I am moving to TV soon. I have already purchased a golf cart. I will be living alone and know almost no one in the villages yet. I don't have any idea what I will do if my golf cart breaks down five miles from my house? As independent as I like to think I am, I don't think I could push that bad boy all the way back home. Have you had your golf cart break down away from home? What did you do? THANKS!

There are emergency service plans you can purchase, sort of like AAA for golf carts. Or you can wait for a friendly Villager to offer help. Or you can buy a super reliable cart ( in my case a Columbia Par Car, no break downs in six years)..

A $5 tow rope can come in handy.

**** Aide, it's like AAA for golf carts. You pay yearly, they come get you. I had to use it once, they have a little trailer, you get in their car and they drive you and your cart home.

Get out of it, kick the tire hard and swear.

Then call a neighbor or spouse or ME to pick you up, go home, list the electric car for sale and buy a new gas Yamaha.

cart with a k aide dot com is one of those services used by many in the villages - check out their webpage.
http://****aide.com/

am not affiliated with the business - I don't even drive a golf cart - often, anyway!

there are a few AAA subscription type road service companies for golf carts in the villages. I use 24/7 **** aide. my batteries died on the way back from brownwood one day and a quick call to 24/7 **** aide brought their tow and service truck to me within 20 minutes. they delivered me at my cart back to my house. where I recharged my batteries and learned the hard way that it was time for new batteries. but a call to battery boys had that under control within a day.

I should also note that many fellow villagers stopped to offer assistance as I sat in my cart. years earlier before I subscribed to **** aide I recall another breakdown where a kind stranger pushed my cart out of a tunnel to a safe place. I was close to home so the kind stranger drove me and my bundles home and I then called one of the village golf cart stores to pick up my cart and service/repair it at their facility. keep your cart well maintained carry a cell phone and list of cart service companies numbers on hand and you should feel safe in the villages. I do.

We have a gas cart and love it, however you do have to keep gas in them. My hubby as kind as he is has rescued 4 different carts in the past 6 weeks after they ran out of gas in the Colony/Hadley area. We keep our gas can full in the garage for such things. Villagers are very helpful if they see you broken down but will not always offer to tow you being that some people think it will hurt their cart to put that strain on it. I personally don't know whether it would or not.

**** aide will also bring you gas. When I broke down I had a wire come loose.

American Golf Cart Association provides this pick up service too. Get information from The Villages Golf Cart stores.

Loose wires, dead batteries, out of gas. Geez, sounds like me. Hubby kicks my tires and tows me home for repairs. Warranty ran out ages ago.
